Dear parent, I am writing to inform you that the students in 6 Resilience took an one-hour timed practice for Comprehension recently. I have gotten them to file their answer script as well as my annotation guide in their yellow file. They have been instructed to get it signed by you.

Comprehension has always been students' Achilles heel (vulnerable area), so it is likely that your child did not perform well. I request that you do not be discouraged by the results. I intend to impart close reading skills and sharpen their answering techniques so that they will do better for all subsequent comprehension tests, most notable the PSLE examination.

A weak area I identified is the accurate identification of vocabulary phrases from the text. I have created a simple poster detailing the thinking process students should exhibit when trying to locate the answer. I hereby share it with you in hopes that we can collectively hone your child's critical thinking skills. I remain at your disposal for any questions you may have in regard to your child's reading comprehension skills.
