3) Do you think that arts festivals are a good idea? Why, or why not?

In my opinion, arts festivals are definitely an awesome idea because of the myriad benefits they offer.
People have the misconception that the arts are high-brow and boring, and thus, shy away from taking part in any activities related to the arts. Organising arts festivals will be effective in debunking this myth as organisers might organise activities at the heartlands, thus bringing the arts closer to people. Such activities are typically free, so as people watch performances and listen to concerts, they not only enrich their souls, but also understand that everyone can appreciate the arts.
Personally, I love to take my children to interactive arts exhibitions at the National Gallery. Watching them shriek in delight at the spectacular artefacts warms my heart. I also love that I can spend quality time with them without breaking the bank!
To sum up, I strongly encourage organisations like the Singapore Art Museum to organise arts festivals. When people rejuvenate their spirits through exposure to the arts, they will be more likely to be gracious and empathetic, thus contributing to a civilised society.
