Sometimes, inspiration strikes when I least expect it. In this case, I am the organiser of the Spelling Bee in my school. I have last year’s word lists with me but the thing about engaging emotional and rebellious youths is, the more you tell them to do something, the more they don’t want to do it. So how can I get them to be interested in last year’s words?
This was when I recalled how Coinbase ingeniously placed a QR code in its Super Bowl commercial, effectively arousing the interest of truckloads of viewers and getting them to register an account with it. Legend had it that so many viewers logged on to Coinbase’s website that it almost crashed!
So instead of giving the word lists directly to the students, I thought of pasting QR codes on the cafeteria stalls. When students queue up to buy food in the morning, some of them may just be intrigued to scan my QR code. And voila! They will be bombarded with last year’s words.
I sought my Head of Department’s permission this morning and got the go-ahead to implement my QR code idea. Honestly, I don’t know if my idea will succeed spectacularly or fail miserably, but I am already pleased with myself for applying something in the crypto space to my work.
