You cannot make up stories like this. This really happened to me. My son and I had a fun and exciting day at the Singapore Zoo with my mother-in-law on Saturday. We were waiting to board a shuttle bus to Khatib MRT station. Little did I expect that my trip would turn out to be even more eventful.

The shuttle bus finally arrived. It was not the Mandai Khatib Shuttle Bus that we had ridden on earlier that day, the one that was decorated with realistic pictures of cute animals. My son was dismayed. He refused to board it. Seeing the long queue of people behind us, I decided not to give in to him and wait for the next bus. I scooped him up like ice cream and carried him to a seat.

He was crying and kicking and screaming at the same time. Then, suddenly, he vomited over me. He vomited all over my T-shirt like Merlion sprouting water. My mother-in-law frantically took wet wipes to clean our T-shirts. I was grateful for her presence. I was also thankful that I had carried my boy. Imagine how angry the bus driver would be if my son had vomited on the bus seat!

This was how I ended up smelling like puke. I learnt that my son would vomit when pushed to do things against his will and faced with a lot of stress. I would not forget this lesson in a hurry. This was indeed an unforgettable trip to the zoo.
