It was a lovely afternoon. A gentle breeze caressed Jake’s face as he strolled in the park. He enjoyed listening to the birds chirp. A broad grin spread across his face.

He quickened his footsteps, eager to reach the pond. Plonk! A tree branch hit his head suddenly. Taken aback, he winced in pain. Tears welled up in his eyes as he cringed at the blood oozing from his wound.

Several passers-by heard the commotion and rushed to Jake’s side. They were frozen in shock. One of them regained his composure and called the ambulance. The paramedics soon arrived at the scene. With concerned looks on their faces, they attended to Jake. They comforted him and quickly put him on a stretcher. Jake heaved a sigh of relief. Then, the ambulance driver drove quickly to the hospital.

At the hospital, a doctor and some nurses immediately attended to Jake. They stopped the bleeding and bandaged the wound. The doctor advised Jake to be hospitalised for a few days.

Eventually, he recovered. Filled with gratitude, he thanked the doctor profusely. He learnt an important lesson. He resolved to be more careful in the future.
