“You’ll definitely love your new room!” my mother said to me. A broad grin stretched across her face. However, I was feeling sad as I watched the movers move the furniture into our new house. I would miss my old neighbours very much.
Just when I was sulking miserably, I heard a knock on the door. My mother opened the door, only to find a lady wearing a stunning tudung. She introduced herself as Mdm Madhiah, our neighbour. Carrying packet drinks and snacks, she explained that she had wanted to give us a warm welcome. My parents were bowled over by her kindness and thoughtfulness. They started talking to one another animatedly.
Mdm Madhiah introduced her daughter, Farah, to me. Upon talking, I realised that she was attending the same primary school as me. We became friends immediately. My heart swelled with joy. I heaved a sigh of relief. I would not be lonely anymore!
The next day, Farah sauntered with me to Sunny Primary School. We were talking nineteen to the dozen. I was thrilled to have made a new friend in my neighbour. Moving house was not so hard after all!
