$5 worth of snacks

My son, my retirement plan

Came across the “Together for Better” roadshow at Northpoint and promptly answered all questions in the quizzes for four stations to redeem a $5 NTUC supermarket voucher. Passed it to my son to buy his favourite snacks and practise budgeting. Schemed to have him buy my favourite Hersley’s chocolate and inculcate a subliminal message that “however you spend your money, you must think of Papa!”

But I am not hard-core scheming. I literally sat down outside the entrance of the supermarket to share the chocolate with two restless kids. Yes, I have no qualms about admitting that I feed my children with unhealthy snacks to buy a few moments of peace.

$5 mayn’t be a lot, but when used to hone a preschooler’s financial acumen, it is more than adequate.
