The famous Longshan Temple in Taipei is a famous place where people come to know something about their future. 6. Escaping from a Hotel
Not literally escaping from the hotel but there were rumors that The Grand Hotel in Taipei has a secret tunnel built for the former president Chiang Kai-shek to escape from if there is a problem. So in 1995, the rumors became true because the hotel ran a fire and safety check and the tunnel was used. Sometimes the hotel offers tours and you might be lucky to see the tunnel.
7. Eat strange waffles

8. Fishing for shrimps
A favorite passing time for locals is to go fishing for shrimps. Not in the sea but there a small pools that you can rent a place to go fishing. Grab a rod and start fishing for shrimps.

Ghost Month in Taiwan is one of the greatest things you could visit in this marvelous country. This sacred month is host to Keeling Chuan Yuan Festival which you can visit and see the many water lanterns that are released into the water.
11. Make a Wish in Taiwan
If you want to make a wish with a sky lantern then head on to Shifen, a small town in Pingxi District. There are a couple of shops selling lanterns and you can buy them to make a wish in the sky. Or if you want to see many lanterns in the sky go for the annual lantern festival in Pingxi.

Taiwan is famous for making Bubble Tea and this phenomenal drink should be tried by every tourist in Taiwan. But having a tea in Chung Shui Tang is considered to be the best place to try it because people say it’s the birthplace of this strange and rare drink in Taiwan.
13. Visit Rainbow Family Village
This colorful village is a must visit for everyone visiting Taiwan. It’s a place where a military veteran started painting his whole village. Tourists are visiting this magical place because it looks very cool and interesting with all of the colorful mosaics made by “Grandpa Rainbow”.
14. Dome of Light
Kaohsiung’s metro is home to the greatest looking dome of light. It’s an artistic piece of the dome that was built by an Italian artist called Narcissus Quagliata. This dome was built to commemorate the birth of Democracy in Taiwan. It’s the largest work of glass art in the world.
15. Visit Cat Village
Houtong was one of the biggest coal providers in the country. In time the coal industry little by little died away as the younger population went to bigger cities for better opportunities and from a village of 6000 people it became a village of 100. But the village was saved because now it boasts a large population of kittens. It’s a cat-friendly village where people are coming to cuddle with the kittens.
16. Cingjing Farm
If you want an escape from the city and are looking for some fresh air then a visit to Cingjing Farm is for you. You can pet the goats and the sheep and have some fun with your family or if you are traveling alone then it would be nice just to relax at the farm and enjoy the peace.
17. Bomb Shelter
Keelung city is home to a 100-year old bomb shelter. It was built by the Japanese in 1903 and it is a grim reminder of that time. It was a shelter when the Americans dropped bombs in World War 2. It was also used as an ammunition depot but now it serves a different purpose, as a way to cut through traffic.
