One thing for sure. The odds of being sucessful are more on your side in some ways, but if you like to gamble. Just holding your bounty (that you dont have to carry) is not enough. The didn't have cell phone chargers or a secret stash of porn in their heavy gear; taking the biggest gamble by uprooting their families, and at great risk to be killed by diseases, the elements, or the gentile savages we began to displace. 
The new Real American Dream can now be shared with fellow hopefuls around the World. There wouldnt be a reason to have to migrate if/when everything will be streamlined in the future; as it is now happening.
