The last couple of days, the sun has been out and it's warm (at last). I decided to take a drive to a coastal town where there are more supermarkets geared towards the ex pat community. I was after Oyster Sauce, Hoi Sin sauce, etc, something to pep up my broccoli. I kinda knew which way I was going but managed to be in the wrong lane and continued up that road. So, I spotted an antique place on my left, thought, 'let's check this place out'. I'm after an old style writing desk. A Cyprus couple were sat outside and I asked for what I wanted. I wandered through the shop checking out all the lovely, unusual chandeliers, old Victorian oak furniture, mirrors, ceramics, carpets, candlesticks, even Elvis Presley albums!  All fab stuff that wouldn't really fit in with my modern style apartment.

As I chatted to the lady and haggled a price for the writing desk I liked, she asks me where I'm from. You know what? And this is typical in Cyprus - she turned out to be my second cousin! Blow me away, now I'll get the price I want. 

I give her a great big hug and she makes a Turkish coffee. Then she calls her sister and it turns out my auntie is in Cyprus and they are meeting at the cafe next door - I haven't seen my auntie (mum's sister) for about 30 years. I was totally alone one minute knowing nobody and suddenly I found a posse of relatives just by taking the wrong turn. 

I knew a lady once who always used to say, 'you never know what's around the next corner' - Just like that, the wheel turns and life takes on a new meaning. All it takes is to step out of the door sometimes and don't control it - take the wrong turn and see what happens.
