Is it possible to turn a person into a slave without inflicting a single physical injury and without shedding a single drop of blood? In the history of criminalistics and psychology, there is such a terrifying method that forces the victim to doubt their own mind, memory, and the very reality they see with their own eyes. This crime is called gaslighting.
The term was adopted as an official term in the criminal world following the famous 1944 film Gaslight. The movie's plot was based on the tactics of some of the most dangerous psychological maniacs in real life.
Imagine a husband who intentionally dims the gas lamps in the house to seize his wife's wealth and have her committed to an asylum. When the woman says the lights are dim and strange sounds are coming from the attic upstairs, the husband replies with extreme coldness and confidence: "It just seems that way to you, everything is fine, you are losing your mind." The husband deliberately changes the locations of household items, hides his wife's belongings, and then blames her for being forgetful.

Under years of this systematic manipulation, the victim eventually stops trusting her own emotions, memory, and sanity. She surrenders full responsibility and decision-making power entirely to the manipulator. This is the heaviest form of digital and psychological slavery, carried out without physical handcuffs.
In modern criminalistics, gaslighting is seen as the starting point of many hidden crimes, domestic violence, and even cases of coerced suicide. A maniac won't hit you; they will simply shatter your reality.
Question: Has anyone in your life ever forced you to doubt your own memory or think that what you were seeing was "wrong"? Are there hidden gaslighters around you?
