The IBU World Championships Biathlon will return to one of the world’s most iconic biathlon locations on 12-23 February 2020, as more than 300 elite athletes from 39 nations compete in Antholz-Anterselva to become world champions in 12 medal events.
Around 20,000 spectators are expected to fill the world-famous venue around the Huber Alm on each of the nine day’s of competition, generating a fantastic atmosphere for the world’s best athletes. Millions of viewers will be watching from home with more than 330 hours of live broadcast planned on linear TV plus significantly more available across the IBU’s and broadcasters’ digital platforms. The World Championships will be broadcast around the globe through 25 broadcasters including 18 European Broadcasting Union Members as well as the NBC Olympic Channel and CCTV.
Over 1,500 volunteers have contributed to the preparations for the World Championships, which has seen the iconic venue undergo a number of upgrades to enhance experience for athletes, spectators and media representatives even further. The Antholz biathlon stadium will be used for the biathlon competitions at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
