More R. Stevie Moore?

By blanjamon | Daily Music Dose | 5 Jun 2021

"Despite the fact that he has influenced countless numbers of commercially successful artists over the years, Moore himself remains a cult figure... appreciated by a relatively small yet passionately loyal fan base around the globe who realize the inherent and real content of his work." - LMNOP

R. Stevie Moore - the name means nothing to most, a lot to some. Reviews of individual records all begin the same way: he is a wacky guy, he records a ton of music (400+ albums and counting), and he really doesn't seem to care about much else. With this much material, where should you start? And also, why bother? These five tracks should answer both questions:

Surprisingly catchy song about breakups and the Vietnam war.

Covid Classic.

A shame this wasn't stashed into the Willy's Wonderland soundtrack. I have a feeling Mr. Nicholas Cage is a huge fan of RSM.

Skip the first few minutes unless '90s suburban Jersey nostalgia is your thing. Solid track.

With Ariel Pink. Repeat worthy. And no vocals, so great if you hate RSM's voice.
