At this moment in time the Rittenhouse jury is in its second day of deliberations. There seems to be a problem with consensus amongst the jurors. The significance of this verdict will have substantial impact on American culture for years to come. The verdict may, set in stone, the idea that carrying a weapon is a good reason for shooting someone. The prosecutors case is that Kyle shot his victims because he believed he would have been shot if he lost control of his gun. This argument is entirely misconstrued and has no relevance whatsoever to the situation.
As we remember the protest was over the oppression, mistreatment and harm of another human being by the police department. There were supporters on either side of the situation that formed two fronts, one that was against the treatment of people in this manner and those that thought it acceptable. This is the penultimate point of why Kyle's defense is incorrect. Kyle falsely believed that the protestors would do to him what he would have done to them. The nature of his position defines that Kyle Rittenhouse had no idea what the protest was about. The protestors were outraged that someone could be subjugated to pain and suffering at the hands of others in control because of their race. This requires an understanding that humans are precious beings no matter their color, race, or beliefs. The protestors viewed Kyle differently than he viewed them. Kyle believed that people should be oppressed and tortured if their ideology, color, or race were different from their own. He projected this belief on to the protestors and because of this belief he shot an unarmed human being.
Kyle's defense of self defense is inaccurate, he was not in any danger. He was misinformed. This misinformation is what encouraged him to act. He didn't understand the perspective of the protestors because of his own cognitive dissonance. "They can't be good people because they don't think like me". The true defense of Kyle Rittenhouse should have been that he has been exposed to, and ultimately bred to believe certain things about people of color, and those that stand up against oppression, as being a threat to American society. The true criminal in this case is the State. The indoctrination of youth by State and Capitalist propaganda groups, in line with extremist social, and media outlets that reinforce this indoctrination. These institutions have made the false claim that those who question authority are a threat to "The American Way".
The real criminal in this trial is an American Society that allows lies, untruths, and misinformation to be represented as fact. The censorship of history that creates an illusory environment of American do-goodery.
Even labeled as entertainment, these ideas, and lies will ultimately destroy our countries belief in truth.
