It’s Bitcoin’s birthday. Here’s who I think the creator was.

Jan 3, 2009 an event happened that was very quiet at the time but in less than a decade would sweep the world and change the world’s view of how we view money. That event was the creation of Bitcoin and to this day, no one is sure of exactly who the creator was, all we are left with the pseudonym, Satoshi Nakamoto that the creator or creators used.

Since it is Bitcoin’s birthday today, I decided to do a deep dive on the internet and look at all the clues as to who the creator was and here is my prime suspect.

David Alan Kleiman

Dave was born 22 January 1967 and was an American computer forensics expert. He  served in the Army and left with a distinguished career, even earning a USA soldier of the year award. In 1995, he was involved in a horrific motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed and wheelchair bound for the rest of his life. Confined to a wheelchair he moved onto what would become his true passion and that was computers.

Dave seems to have had a gift for computer science and was part of a few successful companies and got numerous awards from reputable companies such a Microsoft.

Here’s the part that’s interesting, Dave was passionate about computer security and cryptography and was on the same mailing list called Metzdowd that was the same list used by Satoshi Nakamoto. According to time stamps dated to when Satoshi Nakamoto made his posts, they correlate to someone who lived on the East Coast of the USA. Dave lived in Florida so this matches up with the time stamps. In 2013 Dave unfortunately passed away due to an infection he had acquired, he died in poverty which does pose a problem as surely he would have sold off some Bitcoin beforehand if he indeed was Satoshi.

Interestingly though, Satoshi Nakamoto never made any more posts after Dave died which does give more support to him being Satoshi. A post was made by Satoshi Nakamoto after a news agency claimed Dorian Nakamoto was Satoshi although it has been pointed out that his mailing list had been compromised by then as every nefarious hacker on earth wanted to get into his email.

There is also a curious link between Craig Steven Wright and Dave Kleiman. Wright claimed to be Satoshi and did provide some evidence although nothing compelling enough to claim the title of Satoshi. Wright and Kleiman did indeed work together and it’s possible the two of them were the creators of Bitcoin and Kleiman possibly died with keys to the million or so Bitcoins Satoshi had mined since it’s creation. Wright has never showed proof he has the private keys to this dormant treasure of Bitcoins. It’s possible that Wright is maybe a half Satoshi and was just one step away from having access to that immense fortune.

Dave was said to carry a steel encased USB drive on him wherever he went. It’s rumored to have passed down to his brother although it’s current whereabouts and what was on it are unknown.

Obviously, this is purely my own view on who Satoshi was and it’s very easy I could be proven wrong should new evidence appear. All I can do is speculate with the information I could dig up on the internet.

Anyways, happy birthday Bitcoin and cheers to Satoshi Nakamoto, whoever you are.
