Hello, friends! We continue with the Humanitas community initiative for this February. Today, we're exploring a fundamental topic: Filial Love: The Importance of Family Relationships.

According to Significados.com, filial love is defined as "the affection between parents and children, which extends to other family members like siblings, grandparents, and grandchildren. It is a strong and unbreakable bond based on love and attachment".
But... how healthy is this filial love in our own relationships? I have a surprise for you! With the help of questionnaire creation tools, I designed this self-assessment test (I clarify that I am not an expert on the subject). Take it as a fun exercise to reflect, not as a professional diagnosis.
📝 Self-assessment Test: How's Your Filial Love?
(Answer honestly: 1 = "Never" / 5 = "Always")
- Do you express affection or gratitude towards your family members verbally or physically?
- Do you feel that your family members listen to you when you share emotions?
- Do you resolve conflicts through dialogue and agreements?
- Do you support the important projects or goals of your loved ones?
- Is there respect for differences of opinion or lifestyle?
- Do you spend quality time with them without distractions (e.g., screens)?
- Do you help each other in difficult times?
- Do you avoid insults or disqualifications during discussions?
- Do you remember important dates or achievements among each other?
- Do you feel that this relationship gives you emotional stability?

Quotes to Reflect On
"My family is everything. I am what I am thanks to my mother, my father, my brother, my sister... because they have given me everything. The education I have is thanks to them."
– Ronaldinho
"Feelings of worth can only flourish in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated [...] like in a loving family."
– Virginia Satir
"We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors. We borrow it from our children."
– Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
No matter what your family is like: traditional, modern, or if circumstances have been difficult. The essential thing is to build (or rebuild) bonds from love, respect, and empathy. Today is a good day to tell them how much they matter to you.
"This questionnaire is an informal guide. If you identify serious problems in your relationships, consider seeking psychological or therapeutic support".
And you? How will you strengthen your filial love this February?
