There's a mistake many traders make, and it's not technical. It's conceptual.
They think having a strategy is just about knowing when to enter. But a strategy also serves an equally important purpose: knowing when not to trade.
June 25, 2026... the perfect example.
I was waiting for confirmation in Gold. A liquidity sweep below the price that would give me an entry. It never came. The price rose straight up from the range, but without any real momentum. Without clear confirmation, there was no trade.
In the indices, things were even more confusing. I was expecting a sweep of the previous day's high (PDH) at the Wall Street open. It didn't happen. The price fell without breaking the highs. And to top it all off, the SP500 and Nasdaq showed a very large divergence: while the Nasdaq reached the previous day's high, the SP500 did not. Then the SP500 reached the previous day's lows, but the Nasdaq didn't.
And to add to the confusion, after the opening bell, the Nasdaq began a mini uptrend while the SP500 entered a mini downtrend.

At that moment, I understood something: staying in front of the chart was an unnecessary risk. There was no structure, no confirmation, nothing to trade. And I left.
The signal many ignore.

When the indices contradict each other, the market isn't communicating clearly. And when the market isn't communicating clearly, you shouldn't trade.
It doesn't matter if you have a winning strategy. If the market is in chaos, your strategy won't work. Not because it's bad, but because the conditions aren't right.
The novice trader sees movement and wants to enter. The experienced trader sees ambiguity and exits.
And after the chaos?

Here's the part no one tells you: chaotic days are usually followed by cleaner setups.
The market takes time to accumulate, sweep away liquidity, confuse those already in it, and then, when most have lost patience or capital, the real opportunity appears.
If you can identify those days in time and withdraw, you'll arrive the next day with your account intact and a clear mind. You can take advantage of the clean moves that others can no longer trade because they burned through their accounts in the chaos.
Conclusion.
Having a strategy isn't just about knowing when to enter. It's also about knowing when not to.
If the market doesn't give you a clear signal, there's no trade. It doesn't matter how many hours you've spent staring at the chart.
Sometimes, the best trade is to close the screen and wait until the next day.
"A chaotic day is a test of patience. But the next day is a reward for those who knew how to wait."
