Note: GPL has been developed for the CSC universe only. This means that it has little to no value at all anywhere apart from within the CSC universe. That being said, it will be valuable to some players, and we will explain why later in this write up.

If you’re playing CryptoSpaceCommanders (CSC) you might have seen Gold-Pressed Latinum (GPL) mentioned within the CSC Discord, or maybe even seen it listed on OpenSea. Information about GPL has been scattered among different conversations and to help provide more clarity this write up has been published with the aim to explain everything there is to know about GPL.

What is Gold-Pressed Latinum?

Gold-Pressed Latinum (GPL) is the official currency of the Ferengi Alliance. In keeping with the Star Trek theme, GPL was adopted as the Ferengi’s official currency in the CSC universe.

It is NOT the official currency of the CSC universe.

GPL was created 1st July 2019 by Trislit, the Ferengi Grand Nagus (the leader of the guild). Despite it not having been active for long, it already has some use cases and the Ferengi have already adopted the use of it in our Ferengi Alliance Marketplace.

The GPL token has a total market supply of 100 million tokens, and can be divisible by 18 decimal places. Initial disbursement included 80% to cold storage for future advancements, 17% to founding clan members and to initially promoted clan officials, 2% to the Ferengi Bank  account for everyday use and dissemination efforts, and 1% to the treasury for market liquidity management purposes.

Can I use Gold-Pressed Latinum within Metamask?

Yes. Metamask supports any ERC-20 token, and since GPL follows the ERC-20 token standard it can be used with Metamask and any other direct ethereum wallet software.

What is the Ferengi Alliance Marketplace?

A filtered version of the CSC market on OpenSea where the sellers are seeking GPL in exchange for their CSC items for sale.

What is Gold-Pressed Latinum currently used for?

GPL is currently used in a few different ways, and there are plans to increase the use of it in the future. Listed below is what the Ferengi Alliance is currently using this token for.

• It is used to facilitate the buying and selling of items from the CSC universe via the Ferengi Alliance Marketplace between members of the Ferengi Alliance.
• The rank and social standing of each individual Ferengi member is based upon their wealth, the more GPL a member owns, the higher ranked they will be within the Ferengi Alliance.
• Anyone who actively helps out with the guild (e.g. takes up a role within the alliance) will earn GPL on a frequent basis as a reward, giving them a higher rank within the Ferengi Alliance, and also providing more purchasing power whenever new items are added to the marketplace.
• Currently GPL is awarded to each new joining member of the Ferengi Alliance.
• Existing members can earn further GPL rewards for each member they successfully refer to the guild.
• Items listed on the Ferengi Alliance Marketplace by Ferengi Alliance members are rewarded with GPL.

Future plans for Gold-Pressed Latinum

Since the GPL is relatively new, and CSC is still in development, this list may change in the future. However, we from the Ferengi Alliance guild leadership team aim to edit it and keep it up to date.

Shown below are some of our future plans.

• Expand the amount of ways non-Ferengi Allliance members can redeem their GPL. This includes increasing the rarity of items on the marketplace, increasing the quantity of items on the marketplace and also offer Ferengi Alliance services in return for GPL.
• Have Ferengi Alliance contracts / missions which when completed will result in GPL rewards and potentially items from the Ferengi Alliance marketplace. Ferengi Alliance members will receive higher rewards due to their loyalty to the Ferengi
• Using GPL as a reward for the completion of a bounty. You might want a certain ship targeted and want to offer a reward of ‘X’ amount of GPL to any CSC player.
• Exchanging of mined ore for GPL.
• Renting Ferengi Alliance ships in exchange for GPL.
• Have a Discord channel within the Ferengi Alliance which shows updates within the Ferengi Alliance Marketplace.
• Having internal Ferengi Alliance events which will be rewarded with GPL
• Have a public dashboard which shows GPL activity and show why GPL was sent out to a member (e.g. completed a write up, won a guild event, won a CSC event, referred a new member, etc)

Obtaining Gold-Pressed Latinum

If you wish to pick up some GPL there are a couple of ways to do so:

• Join the Ferengi Alliance. Every new member to the Ferengi Alliance is rewarded with GPL (if this write up convinced you, let them know Markelele sent you).
• Refer new members to Ferengi Alliance. If you convince more CSC players to join, you will be awarded GPL.
• Sell your CSC items on the Ferengi Alliance Marketplace. This means selling CSC items on OpenSea for GPL. You pick the price and if one of the Ferengi Alliance members is interested, they’ll make a bid.
• (Future) Carry out missions for the Ferengi Alliance.
• (Future) Sell your mined ore for GPL.
