Although games on the blockchain could be the next gaming revolution. There are still some major problems which have to be solved.
In the last few weeks I was exploring all dapps and especially games which I could find. First I watched some youtube videos, then I googled crypto games and after some research I found some websites, which shows you a list of all available games right now. I found:

I started to watch the volume and user charts of the different games and noticed that the charts in general look a bit odd. After trying out a bunch of different games on each site, I realized that every website had affiliate links for the games. This is a big problem at the moment, because most of the listed games are either for gambling or have poor quality, meaning that these websites don't always only post dapps or games worth checking out!
Quality
The second big problem is the quality of the available games right now. I have played games like Prospectors, NeoFish, Catpromotion and wanted to try out a bunch of other games, but most of the time something didn’t work and I couldn’t even start the game.
Now there is one game I have been playing for about 2 weeks on my phone, it’s called MyCryptoHeroes (here’s my article). The idea behind the game is really interesting and it made a lot of fun at first, but at this point there is not much to do besides grinding to play PVP later on.
I currently got 4 normal heroes and 3 replica heroes all just by playing the game for free and can successfully clear lvl 20 nodes. I would love to buy a premium membership for a month, but I honestly don’t think it is worth it right now, I will just keep playing the game when I don’t have anything to do.
Early stage
Another game I found which has huge potential is https://hashrush.com/ . It’s an online sci-fi/fantasy RTS set in the fictional Hermeian galaxy.
This was the first time that I downloaded a client for a blockchain game and it actually worked! After playing for a few hours, I eventually learned a little bit of the game, but still in the alpha phase there aren’t a lot of things to do.
Hopefully with more and more players playing blockchain games, their development gets increased.
Players
With a growing community games like https://www.crypticconjure.com/ will hopefully gain popularity as it lives off of a huge community. The idea behind this game is to learn game mechanics and game secrets, to gain power and be better than other players. This will be the first time since years that players will be encouraged to keep secrets between their friends.

Like Hashrush, Crypticconjure is still in early development phase, but it also already has a running client and even a demo to play!
I played the first few levels and after a few tries managed to kill the boss of the tutorial. When you finished the tutorial you can enter hard mode, where more levels and mobs are added.
After 2 days of playing I managed to take down the boss in hard mode, which was a really nice feeling, as the boss is pretty hard to kill. I had so much fun that I decided to participate in their presale where I bought 5 red crystals for 0.005ETH (0.81$).
Conlcusion
All in all I think there are many great blockchain games currently in development, we will just have to wait until they are finished. Until then I will continue to look for more games or practical dapps.
