This week, there are reports and articles in the media in Africa mentioning Lagos, the capital city of Nigeria, as a crypto-hub. This is very interesting because Nigeria, or better said the Nigerian government, is seen as one of the most negative and anti-crypto governments worldwide. Much of the anti-crypto behaviors are coming from the Nigerian central bank.
When it comes to Lagos, it is reported according to a study company called Recap the city is the only one from Africa getting up to the top 20 list worldwide. Thereby, one can say that Lagos is the leading and biggest crypto-city in Africa. Among the factors are the number of crypto users, companies and initiatives.
The study made by Recap shows that crypto-cities are in both Global South and Global North areas, for example, in Thailand and Switzerland.
