Crypto crash, stablecoins and Render Network - recent update via Coin Bureau

Daily or weekly I listen to Coin Bureau, one of my favorite cryptocurrency channels on Youtube.

In this week's crypto news roundup, the top story is the major crash in the crypto market, with major coins and tokens falling by more than 10%. It's unclear what caused the crash, but it's suspected to be a combination of factors, including over $250 million of leveraged long positions being liquidated. While the stock market has been trading sideways, the crypto market's crash appears specific to crypto. Whether this was, a standard correction or the beginning of another leg lower remains to be seen.

Stablecoin uncertainty has also increased as US politicians declared that Congress is starting from scratch on stablecoin regulations. SEC Chairman Gary Gensler spoke before the House Financial Services Committee about the SEC's activities. He believes all cryptocurrency-stable coins are used for crypto, not payments. This is significant because stable coins are how institutional investors can quickly get large amounts of money in and out of the crypto market. Regulatory uncertainty, especially around stablecoins, has discouraged direct crypto investment by institutions.

Exchanges are migrating overseas as Coinbase and Gemini establish global operations. The EU has clarified permutations, and Chinese banks are taking on crypto clients. While this could mean more capital and liquidity moving offshore, it could also be a bullish sign, as it will likely increase overall profits for these exchanges.

Apple has begun offering high deposit yields, incentivizing even more money to flow out of small banks. This could impact the economy and result in more small banks going under in the coming months. While the top-performing Kryptos from last week and where they could be heading were also discussed. How the crypto market will react to these developments in the coming weeks and months remains to be seen.

The Coin Bureau also discusses the potential risks posed by shadow banking in the commercial real estate market. Small banks have issued most of the existing commercial real estate loans. Still, many of these loans have been purchased by private investment firms such as Blackstone, funded by pensions. US regulators have proposed a rule that would designate non-banks as systemically important, allowing them to protect the assets of entities such as Blackstone if they go down. This could lead to a massive expansion of the Fed's balance sheet, impacting the crypto market.

The video also discusses the top-performing cryptocurrencies from the previous week, including Zilliqa, BitTorrent, Leo, Render Network, and Tron. Zilliqa saw a bump in response to a recent EVM compatibility upgrade, but it faces significant resistance, around four cents. BitTorrent pumped in response to the release of BTFs storage three, a decentralized storage network powered by BTT, but it is in a long-term downtrend. Leo's price ultimately depends on BitFenix's actions. Render Network rallied in response to a past governance proposal that will expand the project to the Solana blockchain. Tronics is pumped due to the project's involvement in the NFT NYC event. Still, it looks bearish, with a massive descending triangle on the weekly chart that could break up or down.
