As the Russian aggression and war against Ukraine started in Feb 2022, Ukraine became also more famous for all of the cryptocurrency-based donations provided to the Ukrainian government, civil society organizations and individual citizens. Regarding the year 2022, here are some of the following facts and stats about how this crypto year was for the Ukrainian community: 

- According to different estimates, the number of crypto users in Ukraine is around 6,5 million or around 15% of the population. 

-Ukraine is ranked third on Chainalysis’s 2022 Global Crypto Index,

- Donations provided in crypto during 2022 had a value of more than 150 million USD 

- UkraineDAO, a crypto collective, auctioned a non-fungible token (NFT) of a Ukrainian flag for $6.5m-worth of Ethereum

- Crypto is still not officially legal in Ukraine, compared to El Salvador and the Central African Republic. However, the current Ukrainian law means that crypto is recognized as virtual assets, making the law one of the most crypto-friendly globally. 

-Ukraine is the second country after the US in terms of crypto use

- Russia has been unable to use crypto to avoid or reduce sanctions, while Ukraine has gained from using crypto for its war efforts.
