Who robbed us of FORTH?

Why the FORTH airdrop did not work for Publish0x / KuCoin

By Tomatosoup | CryptoSoup | 24 Apr 2021

This post has been edited following feedback from Igor of Publish0x clarifying why Publish0x payments to KuCoin did not result in a wallet balance that qualified holders for the Ampleforth governance token (FORTH) airdrop.

It originally focused on the time taken for payments to be allocated from Publish0x to KuCoin. It appeared that as a result of the time between the payment being sent and being allocated to wallets that the unannounced snapshot window for Ampleforth's airdrop, see below, had passed while the tokens were being processed over the course of a couple of days.

FORTH claim eligibility criteria

The Publish0x payment of Ampleforth to KuCoin was made on the 29th of March 2021, but was not credited to KuCoin accounts until the 1st of April 2021, this was mentioned in the March payment report

I said in the original version of this article that the teams at Publish0x and KuCoin owed members an explanation over the timing as receiving the airdrop would have transformed their portfolio if not their lives. That explanation was received in Igor's comment, to the original article, which is below.

I also said once there was clarity on the allocation time that Publish0x and KuCoin should explain the issue to Ampleforth, highlighting the Ampleforth community members who have missed out due to our Ampleforth disappearing from view for those critical days. Hopeful that they might see fit to add Publish0x / KuCoin Members in this situation to the airdrop - it could be a good test run as a FORTH governance vote.

The clarity on timing provided is that it was a new process which took time to execute for the first full run, but that is not the whole story.

It is more complicated than just the payments being allocated. The allocated payments are stored internally at KuCoin, not on the ETH blockchain, so individual members who had not directly deposited Amplforth to KuCoin would not have a qualifying wallet.

I'd love to see Publish0x and KuCoin try and work with Amplforth to add the other 1,128 Publish0x members to the airdrop, as was tried, albeit ultimately unsuccessfully for some people who were edge cases in the Uniswap airdrop.

The comments below will still hopefully make sense if you have read this far.
