It isn't an exaggeration. It would take you roughly a year to accumulate the minimum 500 XTM in order to make an eligible withdrawal. Well, I joined Torum last December, persevered through these 12 months and finally made it. So this post is about how I ecstatically withdrew 502 XTM from Torum.

Next year, I will withdraw XTM using one of the decentralized exchanges in order to experience something new. Since this is my first withdrawal, I'm going to stick to the familiar route. Kucoin, here I come!

For some reason, I wasn't able to choose the Binance blockchain, so I had to regrettably stick to the Ethereum blockchain. Yes, I just regarded the 102 XTM gas fee.

Also, you have to press "Enter" after filling in your withdrawal amount. I kept trying to scroll down to find something like a "Continue" tab, but this interface stayed resolutely still, thus causing me to feel a bit irritated.
Another thing that irritated me was that I had to key in a verification code sent to my email, another code sent to my Whatsapp and the third code retrieved from my Authenticator app before I could make a withdrawal successfully. I appreciate the rigorous security measure, but if I may be honest, this multi-pronged approach seemed a tad excessive for small-time content creators like me. As it was, it took me several nerve-racking minutes to get all my 3 codes in order. It was like playing an immunity challenge on Survivor!
Finally, the sweet taste of success!

Just to drum in the fact that I didn't get exactly 500 XTM upon my withdrawal. Again, to manage user expectations, I wish the gas fee could have been declared upfront to new users so that they don't feel disappointed when they make a withdrawal. It's like running past the finishing line, only to find out that you fall short of 20% of the race. Ouch.

Closing Thoughts
Will I still be using Torum on a daily basis, since the payout for a year's work is paltry? I do like participating in the creative competitions on Torum as they are fun and don't require much intense effort on my part. I am also building a following, so it seems a pity to just give that all up. I guess if I see it as an opportunity to make use of Pancake Swap or Uniswap rather than as a means to build viable side income, I would manage my expectations appropriately.
