My WHY For Crypto

This is the post that got me roasted on r/cryptocurrency. Let’s see how well it does here.

Hi, folks

I just met the required 500 comment karma & 60-day membership requirement, so I will like to share my story on how I came to be involved with crypto.

I want to record my story because recently a content creator platform asked me to be one of their writers because they saw my crypto writers on Publish0x. During our first meeting, they expressed interest to know more about me. That was when I fumbled and stumbled through my story. So I realise that I have to better polish the way I tell my story.

Actually I never used to care about money until I became a father.

Overnight, the value of money in my life increased exponentially. Soared to the moon, as you can say.

I thought long and hard about what I could do for a side hustle. I finally decided on blogging because I love writing (which is why you are reading this right now). I started a blog and signed up for Google Adsense.

Through sheer persistence, I was finally able to get my blog approved by Google Adsense. At that time, I wasn’t into crypto yet. My writings revolved the navigating of finances in everyday life and the imparting of financial literacy to my toddler son.

Then one day, something amazing happened. The social media manager of Hodlnaut emailed me and asked me if I would like to engage in affiliate marketing for them. Hodlnaut, for the uninitiated, is a Singapore-based crypto exchange.

I am embarrassed to say that I thought it was otherworldly how fiat money could be conjured out of cryptocurrencies, assets that could not be touched in real life. A bit like black magic, I would even say.

But then, I thought of my son. I got to navigate the crypto space for him because blockchain would become part and parcel of his life in future. So I agreed to the social media manager’s request. And converted all my BAT tokens to ETH so that I could have skin in the game with Hodlnaut.

As they say, the rest is history. This is my story. What’s yours?
