My experience with Blue Wallet

My experience with Blue Wallet

Recently, I have been going down the rabbit hole and trying out every Lightning Network wallet there is out there. There are so many opportunities available for me to stack sats, and most importantly, I am having fun leveraging my resourcefulness and quick thinking to accumulate these sats. So, the time came for me to experiment with Blue Wallet.

Btw, Blue Wallet may not be the best Lightning Network (LN) wallet out there because it is custodial even though you can connect it to your own LN node to make it non-custodial though. But I heard that it was rather user-friendly, so I would just try it out.

I think the first thing to note is that if you are looking for a LN wallet that allows you to send your sats to an on-chain address, Blue Wallet doesn’t suit your needs because you have to choose between a Bitcoin and a LN wallet when you create it.

So, Muun suits my needs better because I’m always looking for opportunities to stack my sats to send to my Gemini account

Creating an invoice was easy, though.

But here’s the thing that made me realise that the Blue Wallet was not for me (yet). In order to copy the invoice, I would have to send it to someone on my WhatsApp first. Frankly speaking, I seriously doubt if many of my contacts are even aware of the existence of the LN, much less use it.

I did like how Blue Wallet enabled me to create as many wallets as I liked. I was keen on the Alby Wallet because I could use it to sign Nostr events on the clients you engage with. You could see for yourself how I created a second wallet by importing my Alby Wallet into Blue.

Actually, my end goal was to earn 10000 sats from various means so that I could transfer them to Phoenix and start educating myself. I am about half-way there, so watch this space.

In conclusion, unless more people from my social network start using the LN, I don’t foresee myself using Blue for the long term because Muun suits my purpose just fine. I learnt that I need to have the clarity on what I want my financial tools to do for me so that I can focus on attaining my goals!

As an aside, I reviewed the Blue Wallet on Apollo. Tip me 10 sats if you find this informative!
