Hi, I’m a teacher from Singapore. I used to teach elementary school English. In order to prepare my students well for their Primary School Leaving Examination, I extracted key words, phrases and collocations from their curriculum materials. However, I never gave my list to them because it was all unstructured data and I didn’t want to overwhelm them.

If ChatGPT were around when I was teaching them in junior high, I could have used this prompt: I extracted these words and phrases from my students’ English materials. I need you to help me arrange all these words and collocations according to their word classes: nouns, verbs, adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions and adverbs. As for collocations, use the first word to help you decide where to place it. Do you understand me?

I then asked ChatGPT to organise the words for me in alphabetical order. It obeyed my instruction within minutes!
