Earned SGD$29 worth of Polkadot from Revolut

I learnt how other users have been sharing about how the Revolut (UK) bank advocates the adoption of crypto. So, apparently, it enables users to set up a vault and round up their loose change - to the extent that it is possible to even accumulate half an ETH this way!

I also read that Revolut has Learn and Earn lessons too. In response to my question, someone replied, “Revolut you mean?  It was informative and relatively easy, earned some DOT and 1inch: both total to around 10$. It’s honestly free money for about 15-20min time.”

I lusted after the free crypto, so even though I was expecting not to be able to benefit from Revolut’s Learn and Earn lessons, I downloaded it anyway because greed. But a wonderful sight met my eyes. Apparently, Singaporeans were eligible for two lessons: Crypto Basics and Polkadot!

In order to access the crypto portion of Revolut, I had to log into SingPass (Singapore’s national identification digital system) and sync my personal particulars like full name, DOB and address with the Revolut app. The synchronisation of my data took about a minute or so, so yay to selling my personal information for crypto. Then, it was passing the KYC. It turned out to be as easy as ABC because I just needed to take a selfie with the in-built camera function.

After passing the KYC immediately, I went to finish all the lessons. To be honest, sometimes I flunked the quizzes, but with a little bit of Googling, I was able to pivot and get the right answers and attain the promised $DOT.

At this point, I was feeling a bit flustered because I didn’t know how to convert it to fiat and off-ramp it. This was when I learnt that Revolut itself empowered users to swap crypto for cash within its app!

To be honest, the swapping fee didn’t come cheap. 72 cents in my case. But heck, since I got this $29 quite easily, I was more than happy to pay the transaction fee.

Another awesome feature of Revolut was that it allowed me to send cash directly to my bank account. (We needed to provide bank details upon registration.) Because downloading the Revolut app was the first thing I did this morning, it meant that I passed all quizzes, converted crypto to fiat and transferred this coveted cash to my bank account - even before I had breakfast. No Monday blues today! An extra dose of lightness in my steps as I skipped my way to the workplace!

Unfortunately, it seems that US citizens won’t be able to access these awesome learn and earn lessons. I hope those of you who come from other parts of the world will be able to benefit from Revolut’s emphasis on crypto, though.

Hoping for the lessons on 1inch Network to be available to my part of the world.
