As proud HODLers of Ethereum, I’m sure we rejoiced when the 8 ETH ETFs were approved, creating favourable conditions for institutional money to flow and increase the demand for ETH (and beef up our wallets).
At the same time, L2 networks have grown from strength to strength. Did you know that Layer-2 platforms have actually overtaken Ethereum's active addresses, thanks to Optimism, Arbitrum, and Base? This may seem hard to believe but as early as January last year, Arbitrum and Optimism transactions have exceeded that of the Ethereum mainnet! In fact, VanEck even went on record to predict that L2 networks will surpass ETH, revenue-wise. To the tune of one trillion dollars in fact.
Could ETH L2s surpass the master and dethrone our beloved ETH? Could they be the ETH killer instead of ETH’s lackluster L1 rivals?
Seemed that Optimism, Arbitrum and Blast are the prime contenders to overtake ETH. Make sure you keep an eye on them as you DCA into ETH and Donuts!
