This month, my primary financial goal is to cash out $5 worth of ETH from Publish0x. Why is that so? Read on to find out.
As you may know, I have been posting on the subreddit r/ethtrader because my contributions will yield me Donuts. Right now, each Donut can be exchanged for $0.014. This is admittedly not a lot but I got 11,000 Donuts during the latest distribution, so this means that I get an extra $140 bucks to supplement my retirement fund. Not a bad deal.
The interesting thing is, Donuts are distributed on an alt-L1 chain called the Gnosis chain. Which means that I need to bridge these Donuts from the Gnosis chain to Mainnet. Luckily for me, there is the OmniBridge that we can depend on.
Somehow, I neglected to take a screenshot when I bridged my Donuts from the Gnosis chain to Mainnet, but this is what the interface looks like.
I connected my wallet and pressed “Transfer”.
I was thrown a curveball in this instant. Based on my experience with Orbiter Finance, I expected my Donuts to appear on my MetaMask wallet immediately. But my MetaMask remained glaringly empty. I kept refreshing my screen but the Donuts still didn’t appear. So, I imagined the worst. I must have screwed up somewhere and caused my Donuts to be obliterated into a black hole.
Suffice it to say that I was melancholic for the entire work day. But by evening time, I recovered my spirits a little. Since I have already washed off my $140ish bucks, I might as well learn a lesson from this incident. So I posted this on r/ethtrader.
Instantaneously, my Bronut clarified that I had to “claim” my tokens (instead of expecting them to be delivered to my MetaMask). Since the conversion required 100 confirmations, it could explain why I haven’t been able to receive my tokens on the Mainnet. So this was what I did the next morning:
Thankfully, I was able to claim my “lost” Donuts. Not gonna lie, I was immensely relieved when I realised that my one month’s worth of hard work didn’t evaporate just like that.
When my Donuts arrived on my MetaMask wallet, I noticed that about $2.50 had been deducted for the conversion fee. Then, when I tried to swap my Donuts for ETH on Uniswap, it stated that I had insufficient funds to effect the swap.
Boohoo! I guess I have to be patient and wait until I accumulate enough ETH from Publish0x. Wish me luck!
