I was with my kid at an indoor playground dedicated to Tayo Station recently when a brainwave struck me. Since Bitcoin is gaining in popularity among ordinary people and institutional investors alike, why isn’t there a theme park dedicated to cryptocurrencies? I mean, Universal Studios Japan has a section dedicated to Harry Potter, right?
So, I got rather excited about my idea. This meant that the thing to do was to sleep on it and examine whether I would still find the idea invigorating the next day. Which I did. To me, this was a feasible money-making opportunity, so I was surprised that no one else had embarked on it yet.
In order to test out the viability of my idea, I asked the following question on r/cryptocurrency. After giving my idea some thought, I decided to just focus on Bitcoin because if the theme park were to feature many cryptocurrencies, it could suffer from an indistinctive brand image. Anyway, I received several responses within a short period of time, making my heart sing with joy.
Their responses were encouraging to me, so I decided to develop my ideas further. Don’t worry, I won’t copy my Redditors’ responses. That will be plagiarism! Here are some attractions that I’m confident will work wonders in my Bitcoin theme park:
1) Pizza-making room. Here, couples, friends and families work together to make pizzas to commemorate how Laszlo spent 10,000 Bitcoin to pay for 2 pizzas. People will learn how Bitcoin can be used as a form of currency (although my unsolicited advice is that you should HODL it.) Great for bonding!
2) BTC Brothers. This room will feature an experiential experience, in which visitors immerse themselves in the role of a Sassy Sat and experience how fast transactions are on both the main blockchain (Layer 1) and BTC Lightning Network (Layer 2).
3) Masquerade Party. Bitcoin has so many variations. Wrapped Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Micro Bitcoin, BTC Lightning Network, and the list goes on. Visitors will step into different rooms featuring one actor dressed up as a particular BTC version. They will then listen to the actor and try to guess which version of BTC he is role-playing as.
4) Obstacle Course. Participants will take a bucket full of BTC coins as they valiantly try to overcome an obstacle course. Obstacles can include the monkey bar, low wall, pyramid ladder, etc. The idea is for participants to hold on to as many BTC coins as possible. This simulates the real world, in which investors should HODL on to their BTC portfolio for the long haul!
5) Rollercoaster. What is a theme park without a signature rollercoaster ride? To simulate the bullish and bearish markets, green and red lights are placed strategically at different junctures of the ride. Hence, thrill seekers will get to experience the exhilarating highs and devastating lows of the crypto charts. This will help them internalise just how volatile crypto is!
6) Escape Room. Participants take on the challenge of trying to escape from a room because the owner has lost his seed phrases. Hence, for an adrenaline-pumping hour, they collaborate to solve clues and engage in a race against time to locate all 24 phrases before the time runs out. People will surely remember, “Not your keys, not your coins” at the end of this adventure!
7) Sail Down The River. Participants write their wishes for a better financial future on colourful paper and insert these notes into bottles. They can then place the bottles inside a man-made river. Seeing these bottles could solidify people’s will to invest responsibly so as to carve a better future for themselves.
