Okay I don't necessarily want to sell my Reddit NFT because a kind friend gave it to me. But it so happened that I had a rare afternoon at work, so I wanted to figure out whether I could follow instructions properly and list an NFT successfully on OpenSea. Doing so would give me a boost of confidence.
So, these were the steps that I followed:
1) Used my Reddit Vault seed phrases to create a new MetaMask wallet
2) Added Polygon Network as a new network to my MetaMask wallet. Earlier, I had managed to obtain some MATIC dust from www.theavatarfaucet.com. This faucet was designed specifically for Reddit users so that we could list our NFTs on Opensea. It never ceased to amaze me how kind crypto enthusiasts were!
3) Headed over to OpenSea and connected my MetaMask wallet.
The process was quite straightforward. I then signed to authorise the integration of my MetaMask wallet into OpenSea.
4) Went to 'Profile' on OpenSea and saw my one and only Reddit NFT
5) Listed The Robot #422 for the price that I was willing to sell. I was amazed to see multiple offers that had already been placed prior to me listing it on OpenSea!
Apparently, my best offer was 0.0145 ETH. I learnt that OpenSea typically took a fee of 2.5%. In the case of Reddit NFTs, the creators would get to keep 5% of the sales price. Not a bad way to publicise their works to a wider audience, if you ask me.
Anyway, I clicked on the three dots at the bottom of my NFT. Doing so would bring me to the menu, which would allow me to list it for sale.
I happily listed it for 1 ETH. I was really thrilled about being able to list my NFT on OpenSea.
6) I actually naively thought that Step 5 was the end of it, given that OpenSea would take 2.5% of the sales fee, but this notification popped out. Listing an NFT on OpenSea would set me back 0.01 MATIC. Okay, I didn't want to waste my precious MATIC unnecessarily since I never wanted to sell my NFT in the first place, so I backed out of the entire process.
Today, I learnt how to sync my MetaMask wallet with OpenSea and list an NFT successfully for sale. The knowledge I gained was priceless! So ready to conquer the rest of the crypto world.
Have you sold NFTs on OpenSea before? How was your experience like?
