Problems with Presearch
As with all of us, I find pleasure in getting rewarded with crypto for menial tasks. It makes the tasks more fun and keeps everything interesting. I love Brave, and at first, I loved Presearch. The fact that you can combine the two is incredible. Wow, what a great idea to earn while you search. However, there were some aspects of it that I didn’t consider.
The main problem for me is that most of the time when I search for something, it means that I am task orientated. I want the information that I need now. Brave’s system of offering an advertisement is excellent because it doesn’t affect my search. I can watch the add or not. When I want to finish, I can ignore the add and keep on trucking.
With Presearch, I have found that because they have ad staking, over half of the first page of search results are ads with little relevance to my need. I usually have to go to the next page and continue to scroll down. Sometimes, I get to the point that I open another browser and redo the search without Presearch. Over time, this gets annoying.
For example, I searched, “What is Bitcoin?” and I get the first half page of results with unrelated ads. To be specific about my problem, the answer to my question was not in the “ads” as they were mostly for buying, selling, and profiting. The above question has nothing to do with those results. Of course, search engines need ads to make money and I think that one or two is okay.
If I were not in task mode, I probably wouldn’t mind. But when it’s work-related, I want my whole team to finish quickly. Getting swamped with adds is not an option. While writing this article and reflecting on this problem. I’ve decided that it’s probably more of my problem than Presearch. So when I’m in task mode, I will use a non-Presearch engine. However, it would be nice if they added an ad control option like Brave.
Let me know if I’m crazy or not.
