Coinbase confusion and disappointment.

We all know Coinbase recently required everyone to verify ID, which is fine.  However, I like overseas in Taiwan.  When trying to verify my ID, it was rejected repeatedly.  This was because while I am a US citizen, my residence is in Taiwan.  So, when applying, they required my residency.  Now, my residency card uses Chinese (of course) for the address- I’m guessing this is the reason for the verification failure.

Then I tried to change my address on their site, but it required verification first.

So, I tried to contact support just to get, “Your region is not supported.”  And I was left with the FAQ and robot chat, which provided no answers.

I thought, okay, I’ll close my account.  I wanted to change my various cryptocurrencies to one and transfer it out.  However, due to my region, that was not allowed.  This is very strange because they had no problem opening my account and transferring crypto.  And previously, I could trade.

So, unable to contact anyone, I was just going to let my account be suspended, and next time I return to the US take care of it.

Then, today, January 26, 2024, I received a letter stating that unless action is taken by December 24, 2023, my funds will be transferred to the State of Escheator.  The letter was dated in November, but it doesn't take that long for mail to go from the US to Taiwan.  The longest is about 9 days.  After an internet search, this means my money goes to the State as if I was dead.

So, what’s going on with Coinbase?  I have tried to contact them repeatedly and can’t.  VPNs don’t help, either.  What do you think I should do?

Any advice.....?
