Hello all!
Let's get one thing out of the way before you start claiming that your PC is so old that you're fairly sure it was a dinosaur who assembled it for you and that you can't possibly run these much "things" on it: I run an AMD AM4, which is "last gen" since September 2022 when AM5 was launched.
Now, in terms of crypto earning, it can't get any lazier than this. Proper "set and forget"...unless you restart your PC or web browser, in a few cases. I am lazy and love gaming too much to be always looking at graphs and candles and movements...and I'm definitely not a DeGeN. I follow the news though and moments like Trump's meme coin launch WILL get my attention (unfortunately it was already at 28, but i still got rid of it at around 70. Was ok!)
I personally have ALL of these projects running SIMULTANIOUSLY while gaming on my PC. What can i say, i love Rocket League...and Palworld...and others! DePIN projects like these are optimized to utilize unused computer resources while you are not using it. If you are like me that has the PC on 24/7, all these projects combined WILL pay for the electricity bill. Grass alone, with their 1st airdrop, would have paid a big chunk of 2024's electricity bill, if i wasn't such a fan of staking at that APR...

Feel free to look up the DePIN projects for yourself WITHOUT clicking my affiliate link or using my affiliate codes...unfortunately, it'll be both our loss!
Let's start with Browser Extensions:
1- Grass
Grass Extension is a tool for managing and extending the capabilities of the Grass GIS (Geographic Information System) software. Grass GIS is an open-source platform used for spatial modeling, geographic analysis, and data management, often in fields like environmental science, urban planning, and geography. The Grass Extension allows users to add new features, functionalities, or modules, enhancing the software's versatility. It makes it easier to integrate third-party tools or share custom scripts, further supporting complex spatial analysis and geographic data processing tasks.
I personally use both their browser extension and the Windows Desktop App, which boosts earnings by 2x.

They focus on agile workflows, client-centric design (UI/UX), and emerging tech (blockchain, DevOps) to deliver tailored digital products for startups and enterprises. Emphasizes collaboration and end-to-end project delivery.
8 - Navigate
Navigate (DataQuest) is a gamified data gathering browser extension. Their G.A.T.E.S. is really an old Zelda look alike!
9 - Gaea
Gaea is a startup focused on the decentralized artificial intelligence (AI) sector, aiming to make public network data more accessible to open-source AI projects by creating a decentralized platform that accelerates AI evolution. The mechanism of Gaea allows users to sell their unused network resources through the platform to companies, laboratories, and other institutions. These companies seek unused network resources to access more diverse IP addresses for tasks such as data scraping and AI training. "Let AI understand human gods better" is their motto.
10- Bless
Bless is the world's first shared computer, powered by everyday devices, enabling users to contribute computational power to decentralized applications, websites and services simply by using them. This innovative approach shifts application’s reliance from institutional operators to a community-driven low-barrier model. The network leverages a newly developed network-neutral application (nnApp) framework with nestled node infrastructure for resource sharing. This marks the advent of an era of completely decentralized, user-empowered applications that are trust-minimized and secure, reducing the barriers to decentralized edge computing for both users and developers.
11 - Functor
Functor Network by Security Labs, at its core, is a keystore (KS) rollup. A minimal keystore rollup is a cross-chain key/value store for smart wallet keys, session keys and other configurations. It is minimal in that its nodes need only to manage this simple key/value database, and not balances nor smart contracts. This has the following simple consequences:
- Nodes are lightweight: This means they can be run in lightweight devices such as raspberry pis, mobile apps and web browser extensions. This is thanks to being designed as a modular blockchain, as well as its execution client being ultra-specialized to just the task of holding Smart Contract Wallet configurations and nothing more.
- Its simple state is readable from everywhere: Due to the simplicity of its state, fast updates (through zero-knowledge proofs) and verifications can be done across any L2 through syncing keystore smart contracts on each L2. For censorship-resistance, it's also possible to force include directly to the keystore smart contract on the L1.
12 - OpenLoop 👉 Code: ol455d32fc
OpenLoop.Network is a decentralized wireless network that reimagines how internet connectivity is delivered and used. By leveraging cutting-edge decentralized infrastructure, OpenLoop transforms unused internet bandwidth into a powerful resource that fuels technological innovation, rewards users, and supports the growing demands of artificial intelligence (AI).
At its core, OpenLoop is designed to enhance internet service delivery through the use of a distributed framework. Unlike traditional centralized networks, OpenLoop operates on principles of decentralization, where users contribute small amounts of unused bandwidth to build a robust and reliable network. This contribution creates a scalable ecosystem that meets the increasing demands of AI data processing and other high-performance technologies.
Well then, that's all the browser extensions! Let's move on to the Desktop Apps:
1 - Grass
As mentioned above.
2- Honeygain
Honeygain has been around since 2019 and it was a slow but reliable earner. Nowadays with Content Delivery, it's a lot faster to reach the minimum payout of $20.
3 - Hivelio
Hivelio is an aggregator of DePIN projects that allow any user to participate in a variety of DePIN networks with just a few clicks. This eliminates the technical hurdles that many users face when trying to join these networks, and allows users to earn passive income by mobilizing their idle computers.
I am super excited about this new project as, hopefully soon, I'll be able to manage all the DePINs i am currently involved with under one roof.
4 - Aioz
Aioz has the potential to be heavy on your pc, be warned. You can share not only bandwidth (internet) but also CPU and/or GPU resources, AND you can also rent hard drive space. I rent 200gb in a 1tb hd, with 22.2gb being currently used. It is one of the DePINs that can be checked upon in Hivelio.
Currently, there is no referral program.
So, 12 browser extensions and 4 desktop apps running simultaneously?! That's going to kill your pc...
...not! For reference, i run a AMD 5600x cpu on a AsRock B550 PG4, with 64gb ddr4 ram and a puny 6700xt gpu:

As you can see, the usage of all the nodes along with all the desktop apps, along with Rocket League running is...mentionable, at best. Mind you, in all fairness, Rocket League is idle on the menu, not half way in an actual game, which would obviously up both the cpu and ram usage...to +-30% cpu usage and +- 50% ram. The gpu takes the brunt. You can also see all the extensions pinned in Brave Browser's top right corner and the nodes in the bar, at the bottom. Another point in favor of Brave Browser is that ridiculously low usage for 25 processes (tabs and nodes/extensions combined).
I appreciate you stopping by and hopefully this article will help you embrace DePIN's awesome way of earning crypto that does not require neither expensive top notch PC equipment nor Gandalf's level of knowledge to set up.
See you in the next one!
