2142 Will Be the Culture-Defining Force of a Generation

Imagine some strangely wonderful universe where Terence McKenna, Carl Sagan, Elon Musk, Timothy Leary, Vitalik Buterin, Satoshi Nakamoto, Graham Hancock, Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Roger Ver, Kevin McCoy, Beeple, XCopy, Frank Miller, Katsuhiro Otomo, Hideo Kokima, and Tim Ferris all got together to create an NFT project. What would that look like?

There is no need to wonder- the team at 2142 has already begun to show the world what that universe might look like.

The current cryptocurrency winter feels like a collective rejection of the dominance of over-shilled and rug-pulled projects that seemed to come from nowhere to wipe out the savings of investors while making anonymous developers rich. Thousands of face-value projects long dominated exchanges with only old-school legends like Bitcoin to stand against them.

NFT projects seemed no better as so many of them popped up out of nowhere, only to be rug-pulled or devalued like their tokened-brethren ala Frosties and many Ape-like fakes. These projects promise so much and hire celebrities to shill for them. They promised to be innovative and unique. They took advantage of investors’ enthusiasm for the ever-growing and astonishing blockchain technologies.

So a question emerges, in this dire pit of crypto-winter, why would anyone start a new NFT project? Furthermore, why would anyone trust a new NFT or crypto-project again? What would that project have to look like and offer?

The team behind 2142 understands the challenges they will face as they continue to develop this project. They are crafting a product that is truly unique, useful, and able to provide real value.

What is 2142?

2142 is the world’s first-ever comic book NFT. The story begins when the last Bitcoin has been mined.

This either coincides or triggers a cosmic- cycle and follows the struggles of three humans and a “strained AI” as they deal with this new landscape. The chaos of this new world rages with alien demons, ancient deities, and rebellious Artificial Intelligence. The mysterious Satoshi wallet also activates in an effort to rid Earth of mega-corporations and Metaverse branding sects.

It is a perilous world that will require comic-book holders to participate in its decision-making. The developers will work with the community to develop decision trees that will change the fate of these stories as they develop, through its DAO system. This is an exciting feature that will make collecting these NFTs fun and exciting.

One of the coolest features of this project will be the opportunity for holders to help craft spin-off stories using NFT drops containing unique characters, locations, and items.

How does it work?

When you go to 2142 you will be asked to connect to Metamask, which is the wallet that will log you in, allowing you to view your assets, Marketplace, DAO, and any rewards that you have earned. You will be offered the opportunity to Mint 7 Free NFTs to begin assembling the first issue of the comic book.

Now you can begin to assemble the comic book. Each issue will be 30–35 pages. Issue #1 consists of 34 pages. The individual pages can consist of panels or be a cover page. In the upper right-hand of the screen, you will see an option to mint assets.

Assets are sold in bundles of 21 NFTs. These items are generated randomly. Each bundle costs $30. You may get duplicates. These duplicates can be traded in the marketplace for other NFTs that you may not yet have.

Once you have a fully assembled comic book, you will be able to burn the entire collection as an NFT. Each issue will be limited to a total of 21,000 copies (representative of 21M Bitcoin). When that happens you unlock an airdrop of a unique character, location, or item.

Meet the Team

The talented team of developers for NFT does not hide behind hidden and anonymous walls.

The team is led by Dušan Žica, an experienced creator and copywriter who has worked on successful projects like Hellion, Talking Tom Camp, and Neuroblast.

Supporting Dušan is Mlađen Merdović who has co-founded many tech projects and is also the current President of Bitcoin Association Serbia.

All the artwork is completed fully in-house and is created by artists Darjan Mikičić, Vladimir Pajić, and Dragan Jovanović.

The team is rounded out with Community Director Nenad Krstić, and Rade Joksimović serving as the Advisory Chair.

Final Thoughts

This project is truly unique. Unlike so many other NFT projects, these NFTs have real value and utility.

The owners of these NFTs get to participate in a real and active community and make decisions that will impact the group as a whole. Holders also have the option of listing their NFTs on marketplaces like Opensea if they choose to.

Speaking with Dušan Žica, he mentioned that they are also creating a video game based on the comic book. He envisions a “Play to Experience” rather than a Play to Earn format that so many crypto games rely on to engage users. Gaming should be more than spinning wheels hoping to earn crypto to trade.

It should be rewarding… and engaging with a compelling story. Gamers will be able to earn through selling NFTs and live-streaming.

Dušan Žica explained that the philosophy of the developers behind the 2142 project is to create a truly transparent and comprehensive experience. They do not believe in shameless self-promotion or using celebrities to shill on their behalf. The vision of the project speaks for itself. There is a firm belief that major corporations and governments are not serving in the best interests of the people they are supposed to be serving. 2142 is a vivid representation of this battle.
