Around 2019, I decided to delve deeper into the world of cryptocurrencies. Not that I hadn't heard of it before, but my knowledge was rather superficial: there's bitcoin, there's some other cryptocurrencies, they operate on a blockchain, information from which cannot be deleted or replaced once it's been added.

It took me a long time to understand because I had never been involved in investing before, let alone the technical component of digital assets. After some time and studying a lot of sites, I was able to familiarize myself with all the necessary information, which helped me to reach a certain conclusion about the crypto market: there is money and it is better to understand how to make it.

As a rather sceptical person, I did not trust the advice on the internet along the lines of 'buy this coin and there will be a 200% profit'. The question arose as to what knowledge was needed to invest the money correctly. As I had no experience in investing, I was not familiar with fundamental and technical analysis, and I did not think it would help me that much.

As it turned out, the cryptocurrency market has its own method - on-chain analysis. With its help, you can extract a lot of valuable data that will allow you to make the right choice when investing. It is strange that many people interested in cryptocurrencies still do not use this method, which not only can, but should always be used, because it helps to minimise losses and bring profits to a completely different level.

With this in mind, I decided to look into the issue and explain in this article what on-chain analysis is, breaking down several platforms for monitoring the cryptocurrency market and highlighting the best of them.

What is on-chain analysis?

Imagine being able to follow an experienced investor and repeat their trades. While this is hard to imagine in the stock or currency markets, the opposite is true for cryptocurrencies. Want to follow a crypto whale's wallet online? No problem.

On-chain analysis is all the public information about the blockchain. Since anonymous blockchains only exist in large companies (for reliable data storage), it turns out that all blockchains on which tens of thousands of cryptocurrencies now operate are public. Thus, anyone can explore the available data by going to blockchain monitoring websites.

Among the information that the blockchain provides: the number of cryptocurrency holders (you can search for periods or in total), which cryptocurrencies are in the wallet, which addresses have interacted with or perhaps with decentralised exchanges. And this is just a small part of what the blockchain shows.

Let's simulate a situation where you like the token of a new project, but there's nothing on the website about the development team or future plans. Using information from the blockchain, you find wallets that hold this token. You can stop at the number of cryptocurrency holders, but this is not always a true indicator - holders can be scrambled by sending cryptocurrency to newly created wallets. So it is better to go through the list of addresses and see what other tokens are stored in the wallet. You may find a pattern: wallets that buy similar coins, which speaks to the possible future of these assets.

I recommend that you personally familiarise yourself with blockchain data, because the data will be really useful. And through which platforms it can be done - I will tell you further.

ArbitrageScanner.io

My personal favourite from this small selection. Apart from the fact that the service offers a lot of tools for blockchain research, the rest of the features will definitely interest Arbitragescanner.io users.

Take the wallet analysis. Sometimes it does not show all possible data, but only a part of it. In Arbitragescanner.io there is no such thing. You type in the address and you get all the public information about it on the network: cryptocurrency balance, transaction history, interaction with other wallets. By the way, there is an interesting point about the creation date of a cryptocurrency wallet. It is not fixed by any blockchain, but in practice - you can see the date of the first transaction of the wallet, which almost always coincides with the date of creation of the wallet.

Searching for wallets is not new either, but it is convenient and productive to use. Arbitragescanner.io offers several search criteria:

  • Blockchain;
  • What cryptocurrencies were sold or bought and over what period of time;
  • Minimum profit and transaction volume;
  • ROI (minimum percentage of profit);
  • Winrate (percentage of assets that grew after purchase).

Enter all the details you are interested in and you will get a selection of funds. If you don't want to do that, Arbitragescanner.io offers you a ready-made selection of investment funds.

But this is the first time I have come across AI wallet search, and I was pleasantly surprised by this tool. AI in crypto is nothing new these days. However, really useful projects or tools with neural networks should be searched for.

How to search: You have a number of addresses that invest in various new cryptocurrencies. To do a more comprehensive search for wallets, you could use additional addresses to monitor. You add known wallet addresses to the AI search, insist on the filters you want, and click 'Start Search'. You will now have a list of addresses that are similar to the wallets you have specified.

And to top it all off, a massive wallet analysis that allows you to analyse the selection you received after an AI search. You will learn: interaction with DEX (buying/selling coins), which DEX are used for transactions, common assets; which cryptocurrencies have been bought recently.

Another bonus for the Arbitragescanner.io piggy bank was the lack of a mandatory API connection. Not being the first year in the crypto market, I have come across many posts about people losing their money because they connected somewhere via API.

In addition, Arbitragescanner.io offers a white label solution: you will need to invest around $20,000 initially, but later on you will get full support in developing your own onchain analysis platform.

If you want to try your hand at cryptocurrency arbitrage, including blockchain research, but can't make up your mind, check out the case studies section of the platform's website. There, Arbitragescanner.io users explain in detail how they are making money using the platform's tools.

I can talk about Arbitragescanner.io for a long time, but you'll have to see and be convinced that this is the best offer on the cryptocurrency market.

Nansen

ed9420587d3a3fadf97c5ae7d4734969aef402d17aa5cd702d458b4ea1d1ccea.png

In my opinion, the service is too abstruse. Of course, when it comes to high-risk investments (which cryptocurrencies are), everything should be thoroughly researched. But the site's interface should be comfortable and intuitive, shouldn't it? Even I, a person who is not new to crypto, had to spend a lot of time to understand everything properly.

Nansen uses an interesting label - Smart Money is the wallet that has made the most profit in the past. In theory, you can follow such wallets and repeat their trades. But there is a problem: some of them are labelled (wallets belonging to investment funds, governments, famous investors and others) and some are not. How much you can trust such addresses is an open question, everything is at the risk of each person.

You can see which token uses the most gas (a unit of measurement of the amount of work (computing resources) required to perform a transaction). The more gas a cryptocurrency uses, the more it is transferred, which means the asset is in demand. There is a Token God mode that allows you to find addresses by cryptocurrency name or by contract.

There is also a table of NFTs showing the most promising tokens.

Not a bad option, but not very informative and difficult to master for a beginner. It is better to turn your attention to more advanced tools.

Whale Alert

Whale Alert is a transaction monitoring service for large cryptocurrency wallets. It is a bot that automatically finds large cryptocurrency transactions or transactions on different blockchain platforms. It tracks information across 10 blockchains.

There is really nothing more to say. I don't quite understand who is interested in this option, because making decisions based on transactions alone is not safe for capital. In any case, someone is using this platform because it has been around for years, so there is a demand.

If you are reading this article, you may have stumbled across this Telegram feed:

Sometimes large movements can actually be a signal. For example, when digital assets from the bankrupt Mt. Gox exchange started moving in June 2024, Whale Alert was one of the first to report it. The market reacted by falling because the amount of BTC and BCH being transferred was impressive.

So this is an exception rather than a pattern. Billions of dollars of crypto are being transferred every day and the market is not really reacting to it. In short, I only recommend it for exceptional cases.

Glassnode

ee258d89fabec7f78ee55249cddccacead65c3a05ff402bc173804f0446c0a87.png

Perhaps the best known analytics platform on the global stage. Glassnode's infographics and metrics are regularly seen on social media and show a lot of interesting things.

The main network metrics that Glassnode tracks include: number of active addresses, transaction volumes and network hash rates. In addition, the platform tracks the inflow and outflow of funds in the cryptocurrency market or exchanges. For example, you can use this tool to track the amount of BTC and ETH stored on cryptocurrency exchanges.

Glassnode regularly publishes various market reports, both weekly and monthly.

It's not a bad way to keep up with the market. For example, if there is an outflow of capital from the crypto market, Glassnode will report on it. But if we're talking about making money from cryptocurrencies, I don't see how this data can help.

It is clear that capital flows, network activity and hash rate can lead to certain conclusions, but they are more likely to help you save money rather than make it. I would therefore recommend looking at more profiled sites if you are interested in making money, rather than statistics for the sake of getting acquainted.

0xScope

The site offers many products, but we are only interested in Scopescan. Enables the creation of real-time profiles (entities) with meaningful relationships. The platform allows users to retrieve Web3 address and profile data via dashboards, run queries on blockchain data and identify relationships, money flows and blockchain behaviour between different entities.

On paper, this all sounds pretty good: a valuable infographic to help you make a decision about an asset. But in reality, it's not like that at all, and the interface is to blame. You can see for yourself:

e8d00a03a342be861cae8f30a8ceb278a712563e1ca2a8ff9b2ae56b46284416.png

This infographic shows which wallet goes where and which wallet goes where. I've put a lot of effort into figuring out what's what. And I remind you that this is not my first year in crypto and this is not my first on-chain analysis service. And this is not the only complex chart that Scopescan provides:

52a3cdd969983f33ff4752ef408800c25a7af05d58da458b25fcc108182b0016.png

You could say that this service is not recommended for beginners, but in my opinion - I would not recommend it to anyone. It's an incredibly difficult site to master and it's not clear why it was created.

Spot On-chain

Spot On Chain uses AI to optimise and explore blockchain data. For myself, I highlighted 3 interesting features of the platform:

  • Onchain Signal Newsfeed. A tool for monitoring blockchain activity in real time, providing data on whale activity, investment strategies and fund movements on exchanges;
  • Multichain Token Visualiser. Displays cryptocurrency flows across different blockchains, helping users keep track of their cryptocurrency;
  • Blockchain Personal AI Analyst. Automates wallet monitoring and sets up intelligent notifications of suspicious activity.

8eb631c42a445f5505016cbfdf051516b982f8d5ba6df0d0e57f213e4813f8e8.png

Personally, I don't trust AI in cryptocurrency as much as the developers of this platform would like me to. Of course, if such an approach is used for a single instrument or in other aspects of life, it's fine. But here, the whole platform is tied to artificial intelligence, which in my opinion is not yet perfect.

Therefore, it is logical that Spot On-chain has problems with the information it provides or that it is incorrect. Users also complain that the site slows down periodically, which can prevent you from making money or even cause losses.

Conclusion

Usually I save the best for last, but I decided to put the service I use first. Arbitragescanner.io is far ahead in terms of functionality among competitors for making money from onchain analysis. Other platforms for working with blockchain data in the selection are relatively good, but for some specific tasks when my favourite buys up its versatility.

I myself have chosen to follow the trades of the a16z cryptocurrency fund, a selection of which can be found on Arbitragescanner.io. For 3 months I have a fairly solid result - 220% profit. And judging by the reviews and cases of other clients, this is not the limit. I definitely recommend this service to make money with cryptocurrencies. The interface of the site is intuitive, even a beginner in the crypto market will understand it.

Good luck with your investments!
