What was DappRadar?
DappRadar, for those who didn't know, was a platform that had several tools to help users navigate Web3, such as filtering tools for Web3 projects, crypto games, DeFi, and other DApps on the blockchain. The website's development began in 2018, coinciding with the emergence of the first dapps, with the goal, according to its founders, of "helping people discover and understand this new world."
DappRadar Shut Down
On November 17th, it was announced through a post on the official DappRadar X account, the following: “After seven years, it’s time to say goodbye.” This was the message sent as text in the post, followed by an image, addressing the event in more detail. DappRadar was a well-known website, and this announcement ended up surprising many people, causing the post to reach 2.2 million views in just a few days.
In the message, the founders of DappRadar say that the decision was difficult, but that they will shut down the DappRadar platform because the costs became unsustainable due to its size, and therefore the decision was made to reduce the project. Therefore, in the coming days they will stop tracking blockchains and dapps as services are shut down.
I believe this is a gap left by the DappRadar platform, which aims to be an aggregator of information and help people, but decisions like this need to be made because, at the end of the day, the project must be sustainable.
