Firstly let me be frank – I don’t have a lot of experience with DApps and had to do a lot of reading up and research on this topic. So I thought I would start off by giving some background first for other that are likewise DApp challenged !

What is a DApp? 

There are tons of websites proclaiming to define this but to be honest I found most of the definitions so full of jargon and concepts that I could not understand take for instance the Wikipidia def:

 “A decentralized application (dapp, Dapp, dApp or DApp) is a computer application that runs on a distributed computing system. DApps have been mostly popularized by distributed ledger technologies(DLT), namely the Ethereum Blockchain, where dApps are often referred to as smart contracts.”

– the best definition I could find was on a website I frequent https://hackernoon.com/what-a-dapp-really-is-really-pi2vb17mz - I still don’t understand it ! But what I do know is that in layman’s terms they are applications running on various blockchains which makes them decentralized ( thus not controlled by a centralised entity as normal apps do ) The main ones being ETH , EOS  and  TRX (there are more I know like Steem etc.)  There are different categories  of DApps , the vast majority appear to be  gaming, exchanges  or  gambling  though (there are also Collectables, High Risk Marketplace)  . ETH is the leader going on sheer volume, but TRX and EOS in particular is gaining ground and 2020 will be an interesting time

The DApp I have chosen to review is WINk on the TRON Blockchain

First Impressions 

You need to have the TRONLink wallet installed – you then go to the built in browser – tap in wink.org – and you are good to go. Immediately opens up to the main page where you can choose which games to play. As per below screenshot

Dice is by far the easiest and you can choose to bet in TRX, BTT or WINk token. I did find that the minimum bets were a bit on the high side – but that’s only because I only earn my TRX BTT through faucets and hence to build up sufficient amount of any of these to start betting is a bit too rich for my blood. However if you do decide to wager some hard earn coins – the game controls were intuitive and similar to that of Trustdice  

Another favourite of mine is Moon – where you bet hoping that you cash out before the price crashes – once again very similar to Trustdice. I have learned that this game is not for the faint hearted and its easy to loose serious tokens in a short space of time – for those with balls of steel and if your timing is right – you can earn easy tokens on this

Ease of use and overall positives

Playing around on the site, I noticed the following:

1. Site is simply designed and similar to Trustdice its very easy to play –anyone could do it. However if you happen to be  mentally challenged – there are tutorial videos giving you the lowdown on how to play and earn ANTE tokens. In this respect its much better than Trustdice – as it took me a while to get the hang of it.  
2. Its very simple to play - no logins, no credit cards, KYC - all you need is your TRONLink wallet and some TRX/ BTT in there- the more the better.  
3.   Similar to Trustdice while rolling the dice you can mine the  ANTE token. The ante token can be sold on the exchange, or you can simply hold on to it giving you a regular income based on the amount of ANTE you are holding. All losses on the site are shared to holders of frozen Ante, the end result being that even when you lose you are winning a cut as long as you hold frozen Ante .

The Bad ( or not so good depending on your outlook)

1. Gambling especially internet gambling  is never safe – and you should only wager what you can afford to lose – in saying that the site is built on trust and transparency
2. The games are simply put addictive – and anyone with addictive tendencies – beware. Hours and TRX can be lost to these games without you realising this

From reading reviews online – it would appear there is a really active community , Admin is friendly and helpful and no one has a bad word to say about this DApp. Its currently ranked at no. 6 on Dappradar at the time of writing this. There are 1.4k users and the volume is €1.3 million.
