Heavyweight Patrick Curry will boost MediConnect as advisor

The market for online pharmacies in the UK is growing rapidly. With the possibility of buying prescription drugs online comes the concern on patients safety. At this moment it is too easy to aquire a higher amount of medicine like addictive painkillers than you actually should use. A serious issue that give MediConnect a good reason for their plan to create blockchain solution for the pharmacy industry.

MediConnect is building a strong team to back the plans for their blockchain based supply chain. They are proud to announce that Patrick Curry OBE, CEO of the British Business Federation Authority (BBFA), has joined the team as an advisor. The BBFA has worked on digital business safety since 2009, and MediConnect is a member contributing to several of their workgroups. Among the tasks of the BBFA are implementation of federated identity & access management, cybersecurity and privacy using new technologies like blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT).

Patrick Curry has earned his spurs in the world of federated trust mechanisms for both the UK and other governments, and also in industry organisations. Keywords as cybersecurity, privacy and secure collaboration describe the fields Patrick Curry is the one to consult. He has gathered tons of knowledge and experience in these fields in the passed years.

He has founded the Transatlantic Secure Collaboration Program (TSCP), an organisation for stakeholders in the worldwide aerospace and defence industry, to protect and secure data. It is the only organisation with both government and industry members. Patrick Curry is also contributing to the development of new ISO and other international standards. He is enabling the adoption of new technologies as blockchain and DLT.

We asked Patrick Curry, CEO of the British Business Federation Authority, for his personal motivation:

“MediConnect is an excellent example of a solution designed to tackle a problem by bringing industry, government and regulatory bodies together. The overuse of prescription medication is a growing and worrying trend in society and the need for controlled and trusted information sharing across the medical sector is key to addressing this. Because MediConnect is focused on drug delivery to patients and not just on patient records, I see ground-breaking opportunities for significant wider benefits in mental health, unemployment, care for the elderly, other addictions including food, alcohol and gambling, as well as reductions in costs and risks across the health and pharmaceutical industries. I look forward to working with the MediConnect consortia to develop its blockchain-based solution to this very important national real-world problem.”

He will be speaking about the important goal of MediConnect to halt prescription drugs addiction and create a secure supply chain at the Blockchain Expo next month. The Expo is held on 25 and 26 of April 2019 in London, UK.

Patrick Curry  is decorated with the OBE (The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) by HM the Queen and has received several other awards for his excellent work.

About MediConnect:

MediConnect is the only blockchain solution intended to revolutionise the use of medication in the UK. It will prevent the over-prescribing to patients of medication from multiple pharmacies, reduce addiction, provide traceability of drugs from manufacturers, wholesalers, prescribers and pharmacies all the way through to patients.
