It really ought to have happened a decade ago, but better late than never. Now at long last it is painless to flip Bitcoin from your phone to any other number in the universe thanks to the Flip App. Not only Bitcoin but Doge and Dingocoin as well. All proof-of-work coins. 

If the recipient doesn’t have the app, they will be prompted to install it from a link before they can receive payment.

You’ll have a non-custodial wallet with private keys. (Private keys are like your car keys, they are your responsibility so don’t lose them).

The interface is simplistic and has a kind of Ockham’s Razor minimalism coupled with a Scandinavian aesthetic that makes it incredibly appealing, and your balance can be displayed in the currency of your choice so you naturally understand the value of what you have.

There is also an option to purchase coins with a credit card via Banxa, which is sort of OK. But there is no straightforward method, so it’s probably as good a method as any. There is also the option to sell and bank the fiat. But ideally we need to dispense with the whole fiat fiasco, and this is definitely a step in the right direction.

I’ve tested it and it does what it claims with little fuss. And as an incentive, you’ll receive 10,000 Dingo (a few pence/cents worth) to play about with once you’ve installed the app and verified your number via a WhatsApp message.

Are scammers going to catch on? Probably. But there isn’t much you can do about that except to post warnings and employ common sense. Hopefully the utility will vastly outweigh the pitfalls. The utility is definitely there in spades. And in that sense, it's a quantum leap toward mass adoption.
