One of my favorite YouTube crypto guys made an excellent point that I must iterate here. In the coming bull market, there will be plenty of celebrities who will begin shilling crypto to you. We already have pop entertainers like Lil Yachty and Lil Pump coming out with social tokens. These are guys who can hardly tie their shoes, let alone create a cryptocurrency.
Even celebrities I consider intelligent like Akon I don't trust in this space. Akon has created Akoin, which is meant to be the cryptocurrency of the physical city he is creating in Senegal. The coin is on the Stellar blockchain, which brings up questions by itself. Why the fuck is the coin on a ghostchain that nobody fuckin uses?
I was going to be a believer in Akoin until I heard one interview of Akon where he was asked about the tokenomics or something. He said something like, "Oh, I just kind of sketch out what I want. I let the geeks handle the rest." WTF? Really? First of all, if I was one of those "geeks," I'd quit the fucking project immediately. Second, I'm sick of these frontmen who are shilling these coins just because they have large followings. Look at these followings like Telegram groups. Do you really want to be associated with the people who think T.I. is smart enough to develop a cryptocurrency (he was recently fined by the SEC for shilling a failcoin on behalf of some no-name White guy who rugpulled the project and literally bought a lambo.)? You're going to buy crypto because fatass Katy Perry did her nails with coins? Half the coins she painted on are failcoins anyway!
Yeah, so if you wouldn't populate a Telegram group with these people's fans, then don't buy any crypto from them. Be warned — these guys are professional marketers. You are about to see some of the slickest ads and campaigns you've ever seen. You'll also see some cringe. I almost pulled all of my money out of Cream.finance when I heard the Method Man song they commissioned. It was that horrible.
Crypto and celebrities don't mix. Don't let it get in your mix.
