Alex Becker and his cronies just executed another flawless pickpocketing of less savvy crypto investors with the recent dumpage of Heroes of Mavia. These insiders took so much that Mavia was forced to post about slowing emissions until February 2025 to stop a complete capitulation.
Becker's secret is he always jokes about taking money from the normies who don't know crypto. You think he's talking about the retail losers who gather in at the last of a cycle. No, he's talking about YOU. He recently told a lie that "if gaming goes down, I'll be right there with you losing bags." Bullshit. This is the same guy who will shill you $NAI at $0,03 knowing full well he and a bunch of insiders bought at $0,003 in presale. $NAI is forthcoming enough to provide transparency; what about the influencer you supposedly trust?
In case you haven't noticed, crypto is really just a microcosm of the corrupt fiat world everyone here is so desperately trying to escape. Government debasing the dollar, killing your buying power, then overtaxing you, blah blah blah. Each and every one of these projects does the exact same thing, save a few. Humanity didn't morph into an alien race before downloading Metamask. The same people fuckin shit up out there, it's their cousins fuckin shit up in here. Case in point: Anthony Pompliano is Peter Schiff's nephew. Just came out on Anthony's podcast, probably because someone threatened to leak it and they were doing PR to get ahead of it.
So this is the kind of scum that's leading the pack in the utilitarian side of crypto (aside from these lame popup Telegram VCs with Eastern European mafia scammers like Bruno from Fluidkey). In the meantime all the free capital is over on the 13 year old side playing games with memecoins. If you're anything like most people from last cycle, you're waiting for all that BTC ETF money to make its way back into EVM based altcoins so you can get your vs. BTC or vs. ETH gains and cycle them back into the main asset, ETH or BTC.
But it's just not happening.
There are a few reasons for this. We'll go over them, then give you all some hope for this market so you don't all kill yourselves. Can't have that; I need your liquidity to keep my slippage down.
Why Memecoins are Running this Cycle.
1️⃣ Max pain. All the other reasons fold into this one. All markets are designed to invoke maximum pain on the highest number of participants possible. This is just the way of things. So max pain in this cycle is to fake like the whole BTC-ETH-big alts-small alts money flow from last cycle is still valid, then completely destroy anyone who set themselves up to profit from that flow.
Just a fuck you from the universe to anyone who thought it was going to be that easy. But degenerates still need their gambling fix. So will the money flow the same as last time?
2️⃣ Altcoin tech dilution. There is no straight money flow from BTC to ETH because BTC is now coming into its own as a system first with BRC-20s and then Ordinals and Runes. Retail Bitcoin money is staying with Bitcoin, and none of the ETF flows are going into altcoins. That leaves only a few insiders and true believers to invest in altcoins right now. But there are simply too many projects to receive any kind of focused capital. More projects than ever — altcoins are spread too thin with no clear winners.
But select memecoins are still up. If the money isn't flowing to alts, why is it flowing to memecoins?
3️⃣ The stupids are here. Web3 is its own animal now. It has grown large enough to sustain itself with the people who know about it. It doesn't need any new participants this cycle to maintain a two trillion dollar market cap for some time. And that's the way it better be, because the new idiots haven't come yet. Web3 audiences currently fall into two categories: The 40 year olds who made their money on BTC and hate memes, and the 16 year olds who made their money off memes. Without ETH as a clear bridge between the two, or rather the EVM-L2-L3-middleware chain market too diluted to receive focused capital, you're stuck with these two audiences playing in their own cesspools.
The BTC shitheads are staying with BTC and arguing about Runes. They 16 year old shitheads only understand memes, so that's what they put their money into. With no new people comes no new mindshare. Everyone is stuck in their silo with blinders on and no need to leave, because both sectors are growing right now (even though the majority of that growth is vapor, it still works on paper for a few months). There are enough people making enough money on paper to keep the rest of the herd gambling for their piece of the pie before the whole thing falls and resets.
Now that you know the landscape, is there any good news for altcoin "community members"? 😂
The Good News for Altcoins
Memecoin season will end at some point. When, I don't know. But like alts, memes will become saturated and eventually centralize their mindshare. We see it now with every chain basically picking, whether officially or unofficially, a mascot. Avalanche, Base and Linea have gone so far as to endorse certain memes, giving them a leg up on their unofficial counterparts. The winners will get picked, the money will centralize in those winners, and the gambling won't get subsidized any more after all the idiots lose their money.
At that point, the degenerate memecoin winners will be looking to conduct degenerate activities — buy hookers and designer drugs in Dubai, flex on the gram with rented everything, and play video games. Right now, web3 games are getting trashed as altcoin campers capitulate in forced sales or in disgust at having been dumped on by slithering dudebro slimeballs like Becker and his butt buddy Elliotrades. This is exactly the depressed market the memecoin gamblers will be looking for — they can play the games and 100x their 100x.
The difference between this and last cycle is there will be fewer winners in the altcoin market. Top games that already have their fair share of attention will be the ones to gather the memecoin capital while the remainder will be left barren. Crypto has gotten exponentially bigger, but that doesn't mean capital will stay diluted. As with every society — and crypto is just a microcosm of the larger society — inflation leads to financial centralization.
It's incumbent upon you now to pick the winners. My picks to outperform are $MAGIC $MAVIA $SHRAP $VIRTUAL $UEFN. You may have others if you're in a different sector of crypto. It's not important what sector you're in — what's important is to understand the behavior will be consistent in each sector. Winners will be picked. The end of this cycle will not be egalitarian.
Gaming will lead; DePIN will be second. The memecoin scumbags will be looking for the best passive income play as well. The alpha: Don't waste time with the undoxxed larp projects on the 22nd page of Coingecko. Get the leaders in DePIN while they are getting decimated by this altcoin shakeout. Maybe for projects like $DATA grab enough tokens at low prices to run some nodes. Nodes for good projects are a great way to survive accumulation/dump periods.
