In this first post I would like to talk about the cryptocurrency world and specifically about bitcoin and inspect in a more ethical and personal point of view with my eyes staring at the big picture of the future. I am not going to talk about the prices nor the markets because I imagine you already read much of that kind of stuff and to be frank those matters are less important than others. What I am mostly interested is the possibilities of these technologies and the ways those open in the future. You see our attitude towards these technologies is the key to secure a prosperous future for ourselves and for our children.

The blockchain technology has entered our lives for the good and the world has changed forever. After the publish of the "Bitcoin white-paper" in October 31, 2008 followed by the impending disappearance of the author "Satoshi Nakamoto" in 2011 everything has taken its course. No one would have imagined what was supposed to happen, not even the creator himself. There where so many problems with the Bitcoin network in the beginning but still, it is online and working in securing the network non-stop 24/7 for 11 years now. And if you take a moment and think about it, it really is quite impressive if you think that till today there where no other systems working continued for that long. Of course this not because there are no other systems like that, but because those other blockchain systems where created after bitcoin. This technological discovery is the root for many changes that will come in many aspects of our lives.

We have to be very careful on how we build applications atop of these technologies because if we don't see the human factor as the central factor, as the user, as the master of these technologies then we are missing the point. What is the point in creating systems that will enslave us. We already have systems like that. Have you ever heard of the "Banking System"?. We don't need the same system blueprints, those systems are obsolete and they will never scale to serve the majority of the world population. Every 10 years or so we are on the verge of an economic crisis, do you know what is that? Well, it is a pyramidal scheme and everyone know how dangerous pyramidal schemes are because the accumulation of governance and information of those systems in the upper register or the peak of the pyramid is mostly been treated as power, political power. This has nothing to do with the "Democracy" that ancient Greeks invented. Τheir bones must be creaking right now for sure. But anyway, as I was saying we are in a very delicate position and every step ahead must be calculated a hundred times before we settle down on the architect. There are some very specific directives if we want to march straight to victory.

You see blockchain systems are like "Lego", you chose your tools and you start building. You may build something useful for the many but at the same time you may build something for the few. You may build something that will help freedom and expression of speech, something that will ensure personal privacy for the individual, the user, the master of this technology. At the same time you may build something that will help the few to surveillance the many and violate their personal data, their security in the name of KYC & AML. Remember that your children will live in this world and they deserve better. 

So we choose to use and build open, public, borderless, neutral and censorship resistant blockchain technologies for a better world in the future because we deserve it!
