Feeling Optimistic About Pub0x Switching to Optimism

Since Pub0x will soon be switching to Optimism (in a few weeks, apparently), I've been tempted to write a "What is Optimism and why Should You Care?" post, maybe earn enough Ampleforth (AMPL) and SPOT to withdraw them before that happens. However, I've refrained from doing so for two main reasons:

  • I've already published a post about Layer 2 Solutions, so focusing on Optimism specifically would likely be a rehash of that, which feels disingenuous to me.
  • I doubt that there's actually much that I can write about Optimism to justify an entire post. Even if I did a comparison of Arbitrum (ARB), Optimism (OP) and Polygon (MATIC), the point would be moot since Pub0x has already decided which one to choose, presumably having weighed up those pros and cons beforehand.

At any rate, I'm optimistic about switching to Optimism (although I would have preferred Polygon, but I have seen mention that it apparently has scaling issues). If I recall correctly, Mirror also uses Optimism (not that it matters much, since nobody's bought NFTs of my posts on it, as far as I know). I'm hoping that the switch will make it easier for me to move/transfer and convert my meager future earnings from Pub0x (possibly through the Hop Exchange) without losing so much to gas fees as I do on the Ethereum mainnet. (ETH's next upgrade is apparently going to make high gas fees less of an issue, but it's taking a while to arrive, which is no good to me now.) Perhaps only time will tell.

The content of this blog is exclusively to do with online privacy/security, cryptography and cryptocurrency: Understanding it, investing in it, mining it (in groups/crowds), developing/programming it, the social problems it aims to solve and the various ways to make more of it (or not, as various losses and failures happen). Let's get away from banksters, Capitalists and fiat, to an unbanked anarcho-syndicalist commune. || Banner image: Blogger's own.
