I recently read about Visa's plans to apply for a patent to create a digital currency. The truth is that this type of news is not something new to be honest, it is one more example that those of us who are studying, living and working for this cryptographic world are on the right side of history; Furthermore, for many this has meant a victory that the path to digitization and cryptography is the next step and a crucial point in the evolution that we have as a society.

But if we read more deeply, it is not only the creation of a currency, it is the possibility of creating digital currencies for central banks or companies that request it under the company's own blockchain network. If we analyze this history in depth, we can denote that distributed registration technology runs the great risk of being centralized and that this is the horizon that many people see of this revolution and system change.

The appearance of tokens such as the Libra of Facebook , Ton of telegram, or the mere presence of entities such as BBVA, Santander or JP Morgan demonstrates the interest that these large corporations have in beginning not to explore but to massify their immense power again but with the advantage of what a distributed and now private network can do. And as such, this centralization would not mark an advance and a change, but simply the updating of a system.

At this point, decentralization is the fundamental ideal behind a system like bitcoin and a technological development like blockchain. Many of the smart contracts and Dapps that are mounted on this record book must be of the same nature as this principle. But as always, the weakness of this system is still present and stronger, and it is its ignorance and the worst scenario is that centralization is the change that many expect, either for comfort, loyalty or because they want to continue with it that has brought us to this point and of which, there are only theories and assumptions, but that reality will be harder than we think.

The future must be built, and it is time to work to unmask the false novelty of centralized decentralization. It remains to move forward knowing that we are now in the same field but on a digital level. Just take into account the two scenarios that are being considered, libertarian decentralization or parasitic centralization, only we decide.
