Free .Polygon Domain
The latest offer from Unstoppable Domains is running until the 2nd of August 2023 at 11:59PM PT. There is no catch, no gimmick, all that's required is a verified Twitter / X account and then it is simple to claim the free domain.
A Twitter / X Account must be considered verified, although the conditions for this are not totally clear. Generally it would mean the account is over 1 month old, has possibly 10 or more tweets, and something like ten or more followers.
Once all the previous steps have been completed, a screen such as the one below should appear. This will indicate that the domain is free and ready to be claimed with the single click of a button. Users will also be given a 50% discount on the purchase of more .polygon domains if they are interested.
Unstoppable Vault subscription
One thing to note and be aware of after claiming the free domain is the requirement on Unstoppable Domains for a Unstoppable Vault subscription. This is basically a way for the domain to be kept safe and secure in the Web3 environment, even if your own wallet gets compromised. Users do not have to subscribe to the Vault, but if they don't then within seven days they will need to move their domain into their own wallet. Below is an extract from the Unstoppable Domains website explaining how the vault functions.
The Unstoppable Vault is an optional custody solution that keeps your domains safe by storing them in a custodial wallet with UnstoppableDomains. Your domains are claimed on-chain and verifiably owned by you, just like with a self-custodial wallet, but they’re kept separate from your other assets in a private domain vault. This helps diversify your assets, reducing the risk of hackers stealing your domain or making unauthorized changes – even if your own wallet gets compromised. The private keys to your vault are encrypted and protected, in alignment with industry best practices. You’ll have the option to transfer your domains from the Vault to a self-custodial wallet at any time. Any domain purchased with a Domain Protection Plan of Self-Custody during Checkout will need to be moved to your own self-custodial wallet within 7 days of purchase. After 7 days, you cannot move your domain to your own wallet without paying the fee for the UD Vault custody.
When inside the "My Domains" section on Unstoppable Domains, users will be able to see their domains listed such as below. From there they can choose either to move the domain into their own private wallet, or maintain the domain with Unstoppable Vault.
