Golden Visa
The fund known as Unbound Fund have announced they will help to provide Bitcoin holders with a route to European Union citizenship as part of Portugal's Golden Visa program. Announced by Alessandro Palombo, co-founder and CEO of Unbound Fund, he stated that Bitcoin investors will be able to gain Portuguese citizenship by investing through cryptocurrency.
Palombo also noted that the fund will be the first which qualifies for the Portuguese Golden Visa program due to them offering exposure to Bitcoin. Investors are required to indirectly hold Bitcoin worth at least 500,000 euros (approximately $542,000) via the fund, and this will make them eligible for the Portugal Golden Residence Permit Program, a five-year residence-by-investment initiative for non-EU nationals.
The Unbound Fund are known for investing in companies with 100% passive Bitcoin holdings while also refraining from engaging in market timed selling of Bitcoin. They also invest in the BlackRock exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for enhanced security and simplicity, along with total transparency with BDO audits. Palombo went on to emphasise that the potential use of Bitcoin as a tool for greater freedom of movement means it will align with his personal decision to move to Portugal with his family. He stated:
“The European citizen-by-investment program is the best for technical and strategic reasons.”
The fund is also committed to radical transparency regarding costs, striving for maximum capital efficiency.
