I hope you are all having a good day, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things crypto. In this post I will look at the upcoming Netflix mini-series on the Sam Bankman-Fried saga.
The Altruists
Quite the title to give the show, although SBF always did fame himself as an altruist. The eight episode mini-series will launch on November 19 and follow the rise and shameful fall of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX. Anthony Boyle will play the role of Sam Bankman-Fried, while Julia Garner will take to the screen as Caroline Ellison.
The series will portray the former FTX chief executive and Alameda Research leader as ambitious young idealists with ideas of remaking finance. Their relationship seems to be a central point in the series, although many have been quick to quash any ideas that this is a 'love story gone wrong.'
While FTX was once one of the world's largest cryptocurrency changes with a daily trading volume of $10 billion, their overall crime of stealing more than $8 billion from customers led to a 25 year prison sentence for SBF. Their crimes led to an unprecedented crypto crash in late 2022.
Like many tv series, this is likely to push on the narrative of a couple who looked to do 'wonderful things' for the world before falling down a path of crime. While most of us in the crypto space will be aware of the realities of what happened, many wont. Likely this show won't put the real light on what happened, but it should be interesting to watch nonetheless.
