Good day everyone,
I hope you are all having a good day, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things crypto. In this post I will be looking at how a crypto kidnapping in Paris saw the victim forced to hand over their Ledger Wallet.
Paris Crypto Kidnapping Sees Victim Hand Over Ledger Wallet
The nation of France has seen a surge in crypto-linked crimes, and the latest involved the abduction of a young man in a Paris suburb. It shows a disturbing new trend which includes targeted attacks on people believed to hold digital assets. The 23-year-old man was reportedly kidnapped in Maisons-Alfort, a suburb of Paris, and a Thursday report by Le Parisien noted how the victim was abducted earlier this week and held for several hours as his captors demanded access to both cash and his Ledger wallet.
The victim and his partner were reportedly targeted by the attackers and forced into a situation that French police are now investigating as kidnapping and unlawful confinement by an organised gang. The saga began last Tuesday as the young couple left their home by car. They were going about their errands when the driver was struggling to find parking. His partner exited the vehicle while he circled the neighbourhood.
Moments later his partner received a message from her partner stating that he had urgent work issue. She went back home unaware of the real situation. This is when the events quickly escalated. She got a video phone call but on the screen wasn’t her partner, it was another man. This man demanded that she gather €5,000 in cash and a Ledger hardware wallet and place them in a bag.
A source told Le Parisien that the kidnappers used violence to make him talk and that the kidnappers had prior knowledge of the man’s crypto holdings. The woman followed the instruction and waited outside her home with the bag until another person arrived to collect it. At 5 p.m. the victim called his partner to let her know he had been released in the nearby town of Créteil and was on his way back. French authorities have not disclosed any details about the man’s identity or the exact amount of crypto involved.
The authorities from Val-de-Marne are now handling the case and a source has confirmed that the woman has been handed over to the judicial police. The Anti-Banditism Brigade has reportedly made several arrests in connection with a series of recent kidnappings targeting crypto holders and a police official noted that this is a sensitive case.
The attack on Tuesday marks the tenth such case to surface in France in recent months and has raised the alarm amongst local crypto users and law enforcement. The investigators believe that the victim was carefully selected and that the perpetrators had detailed information about his assets and routines.
According to data compiled by Bitcoin security advocate Jameson Lopp there have been at least 32 of these wrench attacks globally this year. Almost one-third of them have happened in France and this has put 2025 on track to surpass the previous record of 36 incidents in 2021. University of Cambridge researchers estimate that many such assaults go unreported.
There have also been reports that the assaults are becoming more and more brutal, with a crypto influencer kidnapped and beaten earlier this month after attackers demanded €50,000 in crypto. He was only released after they discovered his wallet was nearly empty. Back in January the co-founder of Ledger, David Balland along with his wife, were kidnapped in rural France. Balland had his finger cut off as part of a ransom attempt and later twelve suspects were arrested. One of the worst so far in 2025 saw the father of a young poker player-turned-crypto trader kidnapped by men pretending to be delivery workers. They demanded up to €7 million and sent a video of the victim’s finger being severed, but thankfully he was later rescued by police in a dramatic operation.
Have a great day.
Peace. CryptoGod-1.
